SENIOR HOUSING DISCUSSED

Following a special Village Board Meeting, a discussion conceming Senior Citizen Hous¬ ing in Huntley. Beside Board members, there were few citizens in attendance. Mrs. Kreutzer introduced Nancy Briscoe from the McHenry County Ifousing Authortty who said that the Fanners Housing Administration had give priority in designating Huntley for senior citizen housing. The complex would be housed on 2 acres with 24 - 1 bedr. apartments in several one story buUdings. There would also be a community center. All of this housing would be built be a private developer.
Seniors would pay 25% of their income for rent. The rest would be subsidized by the federal government. It was brought out that even if the housing is approved there is no way to assure housing in advance. Huntley seniors would have priority.
The differences between Hud and Farmers Home Adm. polides were discussed. Such as the fad that under Hud not only is there senior housing but also family dwelling units in the same percentage. It was brought out through Trustee Stroupe that a cooperative agreement must be instated by the VUlage.
Trustee Mercer asked if the court adion against Hud would be of concern in this matter. He was told no. Trustee Dhamer brought out that it was up to the Village to tell the authorities how they wanted the liousing and what limits were wanted. Trustee Mercer' asked if there were any strings attached and he was told no. It was brought out that the VUlage would be alloted 10% of the rent but not all of this money would come back to Huntley.

Mrs. Kreutzer said that there was an urgency about the housing as 4 seniors wUI not have homes within a year and they don't want to leave Humley. As to mcHre than 24 units, Mrs. Briscoe stated that H was harder to gd the fird 24
than to get more later.
According to Mrs. Briscoe, it wHI take a year or two just to get paperwork for the funding completed. However first the site must be approved by Mrs. Briscoe and the Farmers Home Adm. At this point, the Dhamer pcopady has received primary approval. However there is another site to be considered.
Work has already begun on the pre-applications. Mrs. Bris¬ coe said that the next step is a letter from the Village Board saying that they wish to have senior citizen housing in Huntley. This will be brought up at the next board meeting on Sept. 4th. Mrs. Briscoe said that they hope to have the project underway within a month. It will take a year for federal funding, and a year or two for construction.

The regular meding of the Board of Education of School Distrid #158, Huntley Consoli¬ dated Schools, Huntley, Dlinois, was held in the High School buUding oo August 14. 1980 d 7:30 P.M.
In the absence of the Ptesident the meeting was called to order by the Secretary at 7:30 P.M. Upon roU caH the following members answered present: Mrs. Basel, Mr. Grismer, Mr. Pupich and Mr. Zirk.Absent: Mrs. Livingston, Mr. Reid and Mr. Spears.

Mrs. Basel moved Grismer 2nd to appoint Pupich as President Pro-Tem. The motion carried with 3 yeas and 1 nay cast by Mr. Pupich.
Mr. Grismer moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to approve the minutes of the July 10, regular Board meeting as written. Motion carried with 4 yeas and 0 nays.
Mr. Zirk moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to approve payment of monthly bUls, as presented. The motion carried with 4 yeas and 0 nays.

Last Tuesday night at the 1st Congregational Church, the Huntleyl Park Distrid held a Ffaie Arts Presentation. The arts included ailf the summer programs for youngster. Some of the clowns showed I how they made np and then preceded to hit each other with pies fai J the face. There were magic ads presented by the new magidans and displays of crafts. The movie making class showed the fruits of their course with a fUm. Mr. Blake and Mrs. Warrington were on hand to proudly show the accomplishments of the young people.

HUNTLEY 4-HERS AT STATE FAIR
Springfield, 11. (Aug. 14) - McHenry County 4-Hers had their day at the 1980 lUfaiois State Fau- Thursday. And when the day's activities were over, they took home their fair share ofthe awards handed out.
Thirteen McHenry County 4-Hers earned the coveted "superior" award on their exhibits. They" were: Jeff Gealow. McHenry, eledridty; Jeff Martin, harvard, wood¬ working; Lori Stoxten, Harvard, public apeaking; Derek England Cary, demonstration; Jodi Beu¬ tel. McHenry. demondration; NUtki Payne. In the Share-the-Fun compdi- tion. completed Wednesdsy evening, the Lincoln Cloverieafs 4-H Club won the plaque for the most outstanding performance of the evening for its ad, "A Word From Our Sponsor." Diane Heinrich. Crystal Lake, earned an A rating fbr her work as mistress of ceremonies.
