Dudley Day. He is celebrating the SOth year of his ordination to the priesthood. He has been pastor of St. Mary's parish for thirty-nine years. Father Day will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at 12:00 P.M.This will be followed by an Open House at the American Legion Home on Woodstock and Coral STreets, Huntley. The reception will begin with a short program at 1:30 P.M. and continue to 4:00 P.M. Everyone is welcome to attend. Father Day was bom in Chicayo w March 5, 1902.^ was onlained on June 5.1927 at Quigley Chapel in Chicago tqr m-WUt Reverend Edwar F. Hobaa, D.D. He served as associate pastor at St. Joseph, Harvard; St. Peter, Rockford; St. Mary, Freeport add St. Ann, Dixon. His first appointment as pastor was at St. Mary in Morrison, Illinois from 1936 to 1938. He was appointed pastor of St. Mary, Huntley on July 22,1938. HUNTLEY POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESENTS FIRST ANNUAL FREE BIKE REGISTRATION DATE: SATURDAY, MAY 21 TIME: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PLACE: HUNTLEY GRADE SCHOOL PARKING LOT BIKE RODEO What is a "Bike Rodeo"? It's a bicycle test of your skill in riding a bike and your knowledge of bicycle "Rules of the Road". Come meet and talk witn members of YOUR police Dept.-all questions welcome. Who should register bicycles? MEN, WOMEN and CHILDREN of all ages. Every person registering will have the opportunity to enter the drawing to win a brand new HUFFY BICYCLE, J donated by the HUNTLEY POLICE OFFICERS. ^ There will also be a drawing for bicycle accessories. Don't miss your Chance. Come out to register your bike. JOIN THE FUN HELP REGISTER YOUR FRIENDS! 11 If you are in 6th grade or higher, we would like you to help us register bicycles. We need Motn and Dad to help too. If you would like to help, please contact Richard Ptak, Chief of Police, at 669-2341. In case of rain the registration will be cancelled , for that day, and held the following Saturday, May 28,1977. The Huntley Lions Club held their annual meeting to choose Miss Huntley. Last Year's Miss Huntley, Kathy Pfaff was given a bouquet of flowers from Lion Qub President, Chuck Ruth. Beckie Harm was chosen Miss Huntley this year. MAY BABIES PARTY The May Babies held their annual party last Saturday, May Mth. < at the Huntley American Legion Home. The party «as a huge success with all attending having a good time. Refreshments were served. SWINQINQ HIGH Huntley High's first musical play "Swinging High" will be peroffrmed Friday, May 20th at 8?00 in the Grade school gym. rhe band and chorus are working ogether to present a musical -•omedy about a High School and every thing that comes with it - mciuding a principal who has iome strange ideas about educa- ion. Tickets can be purchased at he door for $1.00 per adult, 50c ir students. FREE SAND On Saturday, May 21st. the Huntley area Jaycees. will be giving away free sand for sandboxes again this year. Anyone interested in receiving sand should write or call Tom .lurs at 669-3232. A correction was made to the minutes April 11, 1977 meeting Item 9, Page 4: A motion by Mr. Pupich and 2nd by Mr Brettschneider so set rental fee ot gyn for Mr. Brunncr at $30.00 per use, with nse constituting a maximum of three hours. Minutes were approved as corrected. 2. A motion made by Mr. Breetschneider and 2nd b\ Mrs. Pawl to approve payment of monthly bills. Members voting yea were Mr. Brettschneider, Mrs. Paul, Mrs. Koppie, Mr. Pupich, Mr. Grismer, Mrs. Livingston, and Mr. Zirk. 7 Yeas oNay. 3. $803.09 was transferred to the Impress Fund an a motion madey by Mrs. Livingston and 2nd by Mr. Zirk. Members voting yea were Mrs. Livingston, Mr. Zirk. Mrs. Pawl, Mrs. Koppie. Mr. Breetschneider, Mr. Grismer, and Mr. Pupich. 7 Yeas oNay 4. A notion by Mr. Pupich and 2nd by Mrs. Koppie to hold Board Meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays ofthe month from 7:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. Motion carried 7 yeas 0 Nay. 5. The School calander of 1977-1978 was approved on a motion by Mr. Brettschneider and 2nd by Mr. Grismer. Motion carried 7 Yeas 0 Nay. 6. A notion by Mr. Pupich and 2nd by Mn. Pawl to send a letter to State Legislature to urge repeal "Free Textbook Program". Motion catried 7 Yeas 0 Nay. 7. A notion by Mrs. Koppie and 2nd by Mrs. Pawl to accept the resignation of Peggy Seymour and Jerry O'Bryant. Mtkn carried 7 Yeas ONay. 8.
