Continue on Inside Hage SCHOOL REFERENDUM DEFEATED All three propositions were defeated at the election held on May 5. The election results are as follows: Increase the education rate: Increase the building rate: Increase the transportation rate: yes - 234 No - 3(W yes • 203 no - 343 yes - 193 no ¦ 35'' The school board will consider alternatives at the May 10 meeting, scheduled for 7:30 P.M. in the high school library. The basic issue will be (1) to provide staff, materials, service and repairs that are needed, which will again add to the district debt, or (2) to cut back programs, services, materials and repairs. All parents are invited to attend this very important meeting. Please plan to attend the hearing which was filed by the developers ofthe Lakewood subdivision. School District 158 will be represented by their attomey. However, if we care, we should plan to attend to show our opposition to this attemp to take 23 acres from our district. The hearing will begin at 7:30 P.M. on May 14 in the County Courthouse Building in Woodstock. We stand to lose more than $60,000 in first year taxes and developer donations from future houses to be contructed on these 23 acres 1 This is a part of the Huntley Schools Newsletter from May 7, 1979. HARVESTORS TO HOLD CAR WASH MAY 12th Since winning the Share-the-Fun contest, we have been raising money to pay for our trip down to the Illinois State Fair. HIGH VOLLEYBALL TEAIVIS TAKE CHAMPIONSHIP Huntley junior high school's "A" team won their conference championship with eleveir victories and only one defeat and also captured their conference toumament championship Saturday in St. Charies. VILLAGE BOARD REPORT The Regular Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held in the Board Room of Village Hall on May 3rd, 1979 and called to order by President Enstrom at 8:00 P.M. The following were present: President Enstrom, Trustees Frank, Stroupe, Mercer, Ack¬ man, Lohneis with Eisenmenger being absent. Also attending were Attomey Caldwell, Super¬ intendent of Public Works Swanson and Village Engineer Schwagel. The President brought before the Board the minutes from the following meetings; April Sth, regular meeting; April llth, special meeting on a tavern hearing; April 18th, Election Canvas and April 30th, Annual meeting. Trustee Mercer brought to the Gerk's attention an error in the April 30th, 1979 minutes in that in the roll call on the motion to set the Gass B fee at $500.00, Trustee Lohneis voted nay not aye as set out. There being no other additions nor corrections, the fbur sets of minutes stood approved as corrected.
