Lion's Pancake Breakfast
On Sunday morning, Huntley's professional pancake flippers, (the Lions), served up a mighty fine feed. Lots of folks from Huntley and nearby towns enjoyed eggs, pancakes and sausage, all cooked to perfection.
It was good to see such a nice crowd support¬ ing these fellows in their endeavors. Their pro¬ fits help those with vision problems and other worthwhile causes.
4-H News
The Huntley Har¬ vestors 4-H Club meeting was held on October 9th. The Club officers gave their speeches at this meeting. Theresa Becker
gave her talk on Drunk 'riving. Amy Meyer on Skiing and Ski Safety, Dennis Drendel gave a speech on Farm Efforts, Todd Manke's speech was on Cow Families, Mike Riedl on Preparing an Animal for Show and Jodi Manke gave her talk on Preparing a Speech. They were all very interesting.
There will not be a 4-H meeting on Nov. 13th. Instead, the Club banquet will be held on Friday, Nov. 21st at 7:30 at the Congrega¬ tional Church.
The next regular meeting will be held oh Dec, nth.	
Education Week
In honor of American Education Week, parents are.invited to visit their children's class¬ rooms at the grade school and/or high school any time throughout the school day on Tue. Nov. 18. Please mark this date on your calendar and come see the many won¬ derful things happening in our schools. Also, if you wish, you are welcome to partake of lunch in our cafeteria, as you are on any day. Your child, especially the younger students, would enjoy having mom or dad join them for lunch at school.
Sports Award
The annual fall- sports award program will be held on Wed. November 12, at 7:30 P.M. in the Grade School Gym. Honored at the time will be football and volleyball team members and mana¬ gers, along with the fall cheerleaders and our lone golf team member. The program will consist of des¬ sert, (cake and ice cream) followed by the presentation of awards by the respective coaches. Don't forget! Wed. Nov. 12, 7:30 P.M.
Basketball
Monday, November 10, marks the start of the 1986-87 high school basketball season for both boys and girls. Huntley boys' coaches, Mr. Ed Ream and Mr. Paul Gillette, and girls' coaches, Mr. Larry Kahl and Ms. Tami Trulock, are antici¬ pating large turnouts for these early prac¬ tices. Both boys and girls begin their com¬ petition during Thanks¬ giving week   tne girls open in the Hiawatha Holiday Tournament in Kirkland on Nov. 24, 25 and 26, games and times to be announced. The boys play in the St. Edward Turkey Tourna¬ ment in Elgin on Novem¬ ber 25, 26 and 28. Conference play for both teams starts in the first week of December. Complete schedule will be pub¬ lished in December Newsletter.
Police
On 10-30-86, Huntley Police arrested Ricky R. Russell of Chicago for burglary. Police were called by con¬ cerned business people of Huntley of a man acting suspiciously looking into several windows of businesses on Rt. 47. When police arrived, the man was not at the scene and police began to search the area. The Huntley Dairy Mart was detected as being the victim of burglary. Chief Rossi and Officer Lee located   " Russell at Mona's park¬ ing lot and arrested Russell for burglary. Russell was still in possession of the articles he removed from the Dairy Mart. Later that day Police answered a call to a home on Borden St. where Police were informed that Russell had unlawfully entered their home earlier in the day and removed some articles. Addi¬ tional charges were then placecf on Russell who now needs $35,000 bond to get out of jail. This arrest was made with the assis¬ tance of information by local business people to the Police Depart¬ ment. No one should ever hesitate in call¬ ing the Huntley Police to report suspicious activity. Help your self, help your neigh¬ bor, by calling 669-2131.

In the Class A State Golf Finals held at Arrowhead Country Club in Chillicothe, II. on Oct. 17th and 18th, Senior Jeff Ferguson shot a 36 hole 161 which earned him a tie for ninth place in the state match and an IHSA medallion to add to his growing collection of golf awards. Jeff had qualified for the state finals by winning the Genoa Regional on Oct. 9th and placing sixth in the sectional on Oct. 14th. This is the second consecutive year in which Jeff has qualified for the state matches and in which he has finished among the top 15 golfers in the State in Class A compe¬ tition. Congratulations, Jeff!

State Bank Presents Books
Typically^ people   have to go to banks to learn about banking. The transition is being made however, with banker and educators working together in Huntley, to give students a better 'technical knowledge of banking.
Last year, the film strip entitled "Banking Is" was presented to Huntley High School by the officers at the State Bank of Huntley.   Mike Davis, Vice President, at the State Bank of Huntley said the program gives the students first hand experience with the basic banking activi¬ ties they will use throughout their lives. As a follow-up to the film, an informative booklet and workbook set were presented to the high school.

Sunday Brunch
The Handbell Choirs from the First Congre¬ gational Church of Huntley will serve a Sunday Brunch Nov. 16th from 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Social Hall. Chicken ala king, corn beef hash, tacos, eggs, sausage, coffee cake, fruit, salads and desserts will be serv¬ ed. Tickets are $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children. Plan now to enjoy a delicious brunch with your friends or neighbors.
Girls In Sectional
The 1986 Huntley Girls Volleyball team has won the first game of the sectionals against Sandwich. The scores were 13-15, 15-8 and 15-10
The Sectional Finals will be against Rich¬ mond at Kaneland High School in Maple Park on Thursday, Nov 13, at 7:00. Hopefully lots of fans will show up to watch our gals perform.

Oktoberfest a Success
OKTOBERFEST
The annual Oktober¬ fest at St. Mary,s Church was a most en¬ joyable evening. Approximately 100 guests were served a delicious dinner of brats and sauerkraut which was created by Chef Nick Grechis. Following the meal, entertainment was pro¬
vided by D.J. Mike Hoffman. He provided music for both dancing and singing. The sing- a-long session proved to be very enjoyable.
Door prizes, donated by a number of parish- lone- s and local ousi- nesses, were awarded throughout the evening.
We're looking forward to next year's event.
