Senior Citizens met Sept. 24th at the Congregational Church social hall. After a pot luck lunch President Ahrens introduced three representatives from the Desnick Eye Center of Chicago. A nurse showed slides of the building and surgical center where only eye operations are conducted. A doctor then examined each person for cataracts and glaucoma. Desnick accepts Medicare payments in full. They also pick up patients within a hundred mile radius of Chicago and bring them home free.
The meeting opened with the pledge to the flag. Roll call was taken and minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Knaak gave her report which was approved. The birthday song was sung. Committee members for October are Herb and Marge Eggers and Eileen Brown. A person at each table received a door prize, a very pretty fall arrangement. Continued on page 4
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Village Board  of Trustees
The September 10, 1987 Regular Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Huntley was held in the Village Hall in the Board Room, and brought to order by President Dhamer at 8:00 P.M.
Present-were: President Dhamer, Trustees Wicke, Basel, Borowicz, Berlin, and Greve with Trustee Brown absent. Also attending were Attorney Kukla, Village Engineer Schwegel, Police Chief Rossi and Building Inspector Spradlin.
As President Dhamer brought the minutes of the previous meetings before the Board, Trustee Brown entered the meeting. The President brought the August 13, 1987 minutes for approval. Trustee Greve questioned why no attachment was made to his copy of the minutes to which the Clerk advised that each trustee had already received a copy of said attachment at Continued on page 8
On Tuesday the street in front of the post offlce received the first phase of a resurfacing by this machine which looked like a cross between a dinosaur and an elephant. This is yet another project in an apperant revitalization of Huntley's downtown.
Historical Society to Hold  Tenth Annual Apple Cider Festival
On Sunday, October 4th, the McHenry County Historical Society in Union willhost its lOtb. annual old fashioned apple cider festival. Using the museum's early 1900 cider press, volunteers will give visitors a taste of freshly pressed apple cider as they view the many local artifacts on exhibit.
Besides the cider making and donut sampling, visitors will also have the chance to recapture the flavor of an old fashioned McHenry County October afternoon. The museum has a variety of displays of rural life including a number of artifacts relating to the planting and harvesting of crops. On the lawn beside the museum is an authentically furnished 1847 log cabin where spinning demonstrations take place and, inside, are two working weaving looms, one of which was brought to the Ridgefield-Crystal Lake area by the Walkup family in 1835.

Regular Meeting Sept.  23,  1987
The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to order by President Mercer at 8 P.M. on Wednesday, September 23, 1987. Present were Commissioners Mercer, Gumett and Woodcock. Also attending were Attomey Cowlin, Graham Knott, LeRoy Wirsing, Betsey Warrington and Joanne Springman.
A motion to approve the minutes of the meetings on August 26 and September 2 was made by Mrs. Mercer, seconded by Mr. Woodcock. All voted aye and the motion carried.
A motion to accept the Treasurer's report was made by Mr. Gurnett, seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All voted aye and the motion carried.

Minutes of Huntley Planning Commission Sept.  14,  1987
The regular monthly meeting of the Huntley Planning Commission was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Chairman Wilmer Rohlwing and Tom Jurs. Also present was Mayor Dhamer.
The minutes of the last meeting of August 10, 1987, were read. Mr. Hansmann moved to accept the minutes as read. Mr. Mercer seconded. Motion carried.
Chairman Rohlwing read a letter to the Planning Commission from Baxter ic Woodman regarding FibreTec Systems. A copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A.
Inspector Spradlin joined the meeting at this time. The agenda was read.
The first order of business was presented by Mr. Harold Hansen. He plans to put up some storage buildings on his Continued on page 4
Students  Receive  Donation for Trip
Chad Warrington and Heather Jagman, two of our seniors who have been nominated as Congressional Scholars each receive a $300 donation from the Huntley Lions and Lioness. This money is to go toward the costs involved in thier trip to the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington DC.

The Huntley Lions and Lioness are able to help these young people because of your support at their various fund raising events. The main fund raiser for the Lioness Club is Bingo which is held every Monday evening at the Legion. The Lions hold several steak dinners during the year as well as a pancake breakfast which is tentatively scheduled for November 1.
