July 1,1976, at 8:00 P. M. The roll noted the following present: President Enstrom, Tm¬ stees Eisenmenger, Manning, Fr¬ ank, Lohneis, Ackman and Strou¬ pe, as well as Attomey Caldwell, Engineer Woodman, Chief of Police Dziewior and Percy Swan¬ son. The First order of business was the presentation of the minutes, and after discussion, Tmstee Stroupe made note of an error in the minutes of June 3, 1976, being that the $100,000.00 be transferred on the books fi'Om the Sewer and Water Operating Fund to the General Fund to cover PAST(not POST) administrative expenses and other non-assigned costs and expenses from prior years, thereupon the minutes stood approved as corrected. The Treasurer's Report for the month of June was discussed and after discussion, a motion was made by Trustee Stroupe, secon¬ ded by Trustee Frank, to approve of the financial report and to ask the Gerk to request clarification of last month's request of transfer of $100,000.00 as above stated from the auditor. Upon roll call, all members voted aye and the motion carried. The bills were presented as per attached listing. A motion was made by Trustee Eisenmenger, seconded by Tmstee Manning, to approve all bills as presented and to issue payment for their amou¬ nt. Upon roll call, all trustees voted aye and the motion carried. President Enstrom then recog¬ nized Mrs. Louise Kreutzer, cha¬ irman of the 125th Anniversary Committee, asked for assistance in the parking problem antici¬ pated for the August 14th and 15th weekend. This request was referred to the Police Committee, who would handle for the village. She also presented President Enstrom with a parade trophy which was inscribed "HARVARD MILK DAY-MUNICIPAL-2ND - PLACE.'' After a further discus¬ sion of the activities for the 125th birthday she left the meeting. Mr. Randy Woodman was next with a discussion on the Sewerage Treatment Plant. A motion was made by Tmstee Frank, seconded by Trustee Manning, to award the contract for the treatment plant to Dlinois Hydraulic Constmction Co. and adopt and ordinance awarding same in the amount of $786,000.00 contingent on Illinois EPA approval. Upon roll call, all trustees voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Woodman also pres¬ ented a Resolution Authorizing Donald Enstrom, President ofthe Village of Huntley, to sign the Certificate of Local Financing stipulating that we have $360,000 in the adopted Revenue Bond Ordinance. Next, a motion was made by Trustee Stroupe, secon¬ ded by Trustee Eisenmenger, authorizing Donald Enstrom, Pre¬ sident of the Village of Huntley, to sign the Grant Offer from the State of Illinois in the amount of Continued on page 2 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE HUNTLEY PARK DISTRICT The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District Board was held on held on Wednesday, June 30,1976 at 8:05p.m. The meeting was called to order by President Parisek, with Commissioners Mackeben, Parisek, Ruth and Tures present. Also in attendance were Mr. Larry Kahl, Mr. Glen Delaney and Mrs. Louise Kreut¬ zer. The Secretary was asked to read the minutes of the previous meeting of 5-26-76, after which a motion was made byMr. Tures, seconded by M. Parisek, to approve the minutes as read. All Commissioners voted aye and the motion carried. The Treasures report was pres¬ ented next, showing a balance in the checking account of $33,187. 73. A motion was made byMr. Ruth, seconded by Mr. Mackeb¬ en, to accept the report as presented. All Commissioners voted aye and the report was filed for audit. Mr. Kahl was then recognized and reviewed the monthly work schedule with the board. Having completed his business with tbe board he then took leave of tfae meeting. Next Mr. Delaney prsented the board with a review of theswim and day camp programs. All fees are now in for both programs and both are going very well. He stated that the bus was now ready to be lettered and the board agreed that Mrs. Weirich do the lettering on Saturday moming. Doug Will entered the meeting at this point and Mr. Delaney, having completed his business, left the meeting. The President then recognized Mrs. Kreutzer, who presented the board with a review of the planned activities to take place at the park on the 14th and 15th of August, in celebration of Huntl¬ ey's 125th anniversary. Mrs. Kreutzer asked permission to place two flat bed trailers,which will be used as speakers stands, and two food stands in the park. The board agreed to both reques¬ ts. She also asked if the board could arrange to bring in two portable toilets to supplement the present facilities at the park . The board also agreed to this request and Mr. Parisek is taking charge of this matter. The placement of the speakers stands and the food stamps were then discussed at length. Next the board agreed to bus the senior citizens from the activities downtown, to the park and back again. After reviewing the schedule of activities and music which will be presented at the park the board decided to hire the one man band for the activit¬ ies in the village square instead of at the park as previously agreed upon. Having completed her bus¬ iness with the board Mrs. Kreut¬ zer then took leave of the meeting Doug Will was recognized next. He stated that he is working on a service project for the Boy Scouts and would like to plant some flowers in the park if the board would agree to it. His project would include planning the layout ,planting and maintaining them Continued on Page 2 4th OF JULY IN HUNTLEY The Bicentennial celebration began with the bell ringing at 1pm followed by four songs played by the chimes at Trinity Lutheran Church. They wer "The Star Spangled Banner", "My Country Tis of Thee "."America the Great", and "Columbia the Gem of the ocean". The parade started off with the shrill but exciting sounds of the Police car and Fire Department caravan sirens as a large crowd of spectators watched from the sid¬ ewalks and park. The firemen drove their equipment throwing candy to the children. Following them, marching in unison was the American Legion and Ancillary with their Auxiliary President, Hedy Leonard, who is also Bicentennial Chairman and her husband, Wally driving Ben Hansford's golf cart. Huntley's Mayor of the Year, Don Enstrom and his wife,Fem, who was dressed in a Bicentennial costume waved to the crowds as they drove down the parade route. Village Board Trustee Rev. Dr. Robert Frank was next with a parade of antique cars. The Huntley High School Maj¬ orette and Junior High band put on a colorful show while playing "My Country Tis of Thee". An interesting float from Union Special Machine Co., depicting a large sewing machine, came into view. Behind them were the Huntley Girl Scouts and our MISS Huntley, Kathy Pfaff. There were several parade entries from our younger populat¬ ion with gaily decorated red, white and blue bikes. An interest¬ ing float appeared next depicting a train. Throughout the parade, antiq¬ ue cars passed along the parade route. Among those driving were Mr. & Mrs. Ben Hansford and Pat Williams. Our Bicentennial Queen, Sue Weltzien with her court, Beckie Harm and Lori Mc Cune rode on a lovely float depicting Huntley's park bandstand. This float had won a trophy at the Harvard Milk Day Parade. Mrs. Louise Kreutz¬ er, 125th Anniversary Chairman, waved to the spectators as she rode in the car pulling the float. Behind the float were patriotic- ly decorated mowers driven by Mike Smith and the Allen boys. Grafton Township Road Comm¬ issioner, Vemon Brunchon and his wife, Virginia came into view next with Huntley's rescue squad following. This was the vehicle which was paid for by the people of Huntley in a ftmd raising drive. Many lovely horses pranced dowm Main Street. The parade ended as Elden & Joann Pfaff passed with their horse and buggy. Following the parade, spectat¬ ors and marchers gathered at Deieke Park for a picnic lunch. Dessert was provided by the Huntley Girl Scouts, who had spent 5 hour on Saturday decorat¬ ing two cakes. One of the cakes had blue and red stars. The other cake contained a dmm made of cake and the dates 1776 & 1976.
