The firemen had set a goal of 58,000.00 which would pay off tho vehicle. This amount was reach: ed before tho dance last Saturday night which culminated a 2 month campaign. During these two months? the Firemen went to evei7 home in Iiie district asking a ten dollar donation. Donalions ranged from 4 and 5c given by grade scbool chil¬ dren up to $500.00. A check for $151.50 was pre¬ sented to Fire Chief PhU Freund from the Huotiey Farmside News- pitper at the dance last Saturday night. This represented % of the amount collected in a special sub¬ scription drive by the newspaper. Approximately 400 people attend¬ ed the dance. Although one fireman who was tending bar was heard to say "It seemed like 10,000." State Contest Winners by Doug Strickland Last Satuirday, tiie Huntley Hi^ School band and chorus participated in the State Solo and Ensemble Contest at Hononegah High School in RocJctom. The band did rather well, earning four division one rat¬ ings and five division two ratings. The chorus also bad a fine day, gaining three division one rating* and one division two rating. Hiie band, with the direction of director Hank Waztiiel, gained thdr division one berths in tbe form of a clarinet quaitet, a brass quintet, a percussion enseoible, and a wood¬ wind quintet. The darinet quartet performed "Minuetto" to gain their rating, and the group consisted of Janice Parisek, Lonnie Nerby, Tanuny Ziller, and Sandy Wicke. Village Board Minutes The Regular Meeting of the Vil¬ lage Board of Trustees was held in the Boatxi Room of tbe Village Hail, Thursday evening. Marcb 6, 1975 at 7:30 P.M. The following officers were p««- .sent: President Bnstrom, Trustees Frank, E)rg«rs, Ackman, Strmine and Mannimg. with Attorney Caldwell. Randy Woodman of B-ix+^r and Woodman erf Baxter and Woodwwi, Chief of Piriice Dziewior and Percy Swanson. Tbc meetinfr was called to nM*^ with tho presentation of the FeHnu- ary 6, 1975 mimites. The Clerk was recfuestod to change the coding of the audit expense and to ask the Treasurer to transf^ this expense to the Management and Consultation expenditure in tlte Le¬ gal and Professional Department Also, the inairanco expense for the waterworts emrloyees was to be tnansferred from the General Ftaod to the Sewer and Water Ftond ex¬ penditures. Mr. S'roDpe aslced if there might be some way to project the probable Income for tbe com¬ ing year. Mr. Eggers requested the Clerk to have the coding of ac¬ counts put on the management re¬ port by the auditors. ,\fter this dis¬ cussion, a motion was made by Trustee Frank, seoonded by Trustee Ackman, to approve the Treasurer's Report and the Management Report as presented, aixi upon roll call, all members voted aye and the Re¬ ports were approved. The roast beef dinner was served by the ladies of the l3t Con- greg-ational Church. Hairy Weltzien. Don Enstrom and Pat Williams all l|fe members of the post, cut the cake with a sabre. Rev. Dr. Robt. Pnank gave tlie opening prayer. Following the dinner Don EnSJtrom and Bob Schultz presented pin for years of niembei-ship to Legionnaires. Tlie Auxiliary Department President, Gerry Wright and Marilyn Eckman then gave tho ladies their service pins. Attending the birthday dinner were honored guests. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Purdom and Mr. and Mrs. Quin O'Brien. Each of the men were presented citation for their many years of service and contribu¬ tions to the Huntley Legion. Mrs. Marilyn Ackman, president of the Legion Au-xiliary in Huntley then presented Presider* Bob Schjiltz with a new freezer for tl^ I-egion home. Tlie madn speaker of tho evening, John Geiger; was asked to the podium. Mr. Geiger was National Commander in 1972 and is presently serving as Director of Govemment Affairs for United Air¬ lines. He spoke on keeping America well armed and alert to any aggres¬ sive situatiom. He said that tbe small town is the backbone of the Legion. Rev. Dr. Robt. Frank gave tJie benediction bringing tbe dinner to a dose.
