SATURDAY, AUGUST 19th
The foUowing was distributed to parents on registration day by Huntloy School oflFicals:
8-8-72 Dear Parent and Student Driver:
We urge tiiat no student, either from the high school or elementary enter or leave the sohool grounds by way of walking aloi^ Route 47. This is, quite obviously, a very dangerous practice. Police Ohief Nelson will contact the family of any student vioiating this regulate- ion. So, please, let's have diikfren using sideiwalks whenever possible instead of the trigihiway.
Although tbe school ttas no legal aidtiority io regard to traffic on
the public streets, we would like to make a few suggestions to dri¬ vers operating on the streets £tfx>und) the sohool. Let us remember that the legal speed limit in the school area is 15 m.p.h. Unfortunately, very few people adhere to this limit. Also, a poor idea is to let child¬ ren out of cars white parked on the west side of Lincoln because it makes it necessary for the child to cross traffic in oitker to get to the school.
As illustr^ed on the map below, we ask those coming from the east to use tbe new Mill Street, unlioad all students (Ugk scfaool and^ mentur)4(B th*emliriie of
Street and exit on Lincoln to Main. Tliose from the west (and those who want to use the High School parking lot) can enter on Linctdn from Main but drive around the square using Heinz and Sunset in order to enter LincoOn Street where you will merge with the flow of traffic, unload children and exit on Lincoln to Main Street
No one is to drive on the east side of the Elementary school be¬ tween t*ie hours of 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. unless given permission by school personnel.
..Please be careful — AVOID A NEEDLESS TRAGEDY.
Have yoo noticed that your car is looking a little dull and lacklus¬ ter lately. Has the chrome lost it's gleam? Are your whitewalls more of a tattletale grey? If the answer to these questions is "yes" - dkxn't dispair! Help is 'near! On August 19th, the Huntley High School Cheerleaders and Color Guard will be at the Firebam with sponge and chamois in hand just waiting for you to drive up and watch while they clean your car until it sparkles like new.
The oar wash is just a part of the marvelous things in store at Huntley's Sidewalk Sale Day. There wtU ()e a vfiBt.anra^.j^Uem ia t^
