In addition to poor weather Huntley merchants competed against sidewalk sales or other fe^vities in Marengo, Algonquin, Crystal Liike and Barrington. Although* moat mer¬ chants admit to not doing as well as in previous years, the majoaity stated that the nale was a success.
Unlike last year wtiere all of the activities were concentrated on the
Huntloy square, this years sidewalk sale oncomp.ised the entire com¬ munity. The Huntley Supermarket who previously had a booth down¬ town giving away pizza, displayed their merchandise on the sidewalk in front of thedr store. In addition to their merchandise the Hundey Fire Department displayed their res¬ cue van and the equipmervt carrier in the parking lot of the Supermar¬ ket.
The M & H Dairy Mart had bai loons witli reduced prices for ban¬ ana sp^ts at thetr location. The prices for a banana spiit depending on whicfa balloon was seleded oost between Ic to 64 oents.
In the downtown area, the bank again bad their penny oomal. The Village Store, Huntley Shoe Box, Heineman Hardiware and V & V Electromias had tiMes in front of
their, stoi^es selling thir merchan¬ dise in tile street. The Huntley mow¬ er re{xiir wfao have moved from Main St. to Rte. 47, sold many items at half price. The Fox Valley Ftorist and The Letnon Tree Bodtique were the only merchants from outside of the downtown area wi» had booths on Oie square. August School Board

The monthly meeting of the school board was held last Monday night, August 12 in the Board of EdtwatlOn room at the hdgh school.
President 2!iller called the meet¬ ing to order at 7:45 p.m. AH. mem¬ bers were present. The minutes of the last regi^r meeting were ap¬ proved. Mr. Bond made a motion to , pay the biMs. Mrs. Jones seconded ' the motion, whicii was approved with all ayes.
Following te preHmiraries, a pre¬ sentation was made to the-board by Arnold MaRons, a representa¬ tive of Industrial Appraisal Oom¬ pany. TTie board has expreesed an Interest in an insurance appwasal. Country Companies, the school's pre¬ sent insunanoe, recommended two ^>praisal firms. MlaRoiis explained tlie process to the board. Neighboriwod DistariMnce - A phone call was received at the police station concerning several cWldren annoying their neighbors, the police hope they have resolved their dif¬ ferences to everyones satisfaction.
Climinad damage to a veWde ¦ Windows was broken out of a truck parked in a yard by vandals. Police are investigating informaticm given to tiiem concerning the individuals.
One Female and three juvenile 'females were apprehended with open liquor in a oar. The one female was ticketed for having open liquor in her vehicle and the other tfaree juveniles are being counoeled with their parents on the merits of Uids type of activity.
The PoMce Depaitment received a report of a hit and run traffic accident, damage to v^ildes was minor, tickets are now pending sub. jeot to further investigation.
