Huntley Schools Expands Curriculum
In the past, when a high sohool student wanted to enroll in a sub¬ ject that was not taught In his own sdiOol but was taught in some oth¬ er school, the family would have to move into the other dietrict to Sat¬ isfy his desdres. Naturally, this was imprtaical, and the student woull substitute some course w his own high school in w*dch he was less interested, but still wiping he noght have the other oourse.
Starting next September in the 1973-74 school year, the opportun¬ ity will be available for students in one high cshooJ to take Uiat "other" ooutse in some orther tiigh sdiool within McHenry County. Through the McHeory County VcKalftotndl Cooperative, an organization that has been in the process of develop¬ ment for several montfns between the eight high school districts with¬ in the county, the expaided curri¬ culum for individual students will be possible.
With an administrator and a boerd mMnbep from each district forming the Board of Dire<*ors, aad one from eaoh named as one Execu- ' tive Board, committees tor policy, program, and finance were named. On November 15, after each com¬ mittee had presented their propo- iiit, a formal PoUcy Provlskm was adopted.
Robert Vogen, Superintendent of Community High School - Mapengo - District 154, has been elected to ser\'e as chaJrman of the Board wid^h Loren C. Lemmon, Superin¬ tendent of Harvard Community Unit District 50, ^xpointed to serve as secretary. Woodstock Unit Dis- tric ?.00 is serving as the Adhiinis- tratjvc  Distriot.
As set forth in the Articles of Joint Agreement, "TTie purpose of the McHenry County Vocational Oooperative shall be to provide edu¬ cation and services for the voca¬ tional and technical career students of its Member School Districts as defined and mandated by flie pro¬ visions of the Illinois Sohool Code."

Santa Clause Is Coming to Town
Santa Clause will come to town this year on SaAurday December 9th at 1:30 P.M. to talk to aU good little boys and girls. Santa will ar¬ rive from his home at the North Poll by snowmobile (In case there is no snow Santa will use one of the Huntley Flre Engins). Santa will give gifts to every boy and giril who visits him hi the bandstand. He will be assisted by the merchants of the community.
On Saturday, December 15th, .Santa will be at Harry's Super-Valu 6 to 9 P.M.
Oliver Statler Speaks At Lions Club
World renowned author and lec¬ turer, Mr. Oliver Statler, addressed the Hunitley Lions Club at their regular meeting held Nov. 28, at the Huntley Legion Hall. Intro¬ duced by Program Chairman lion Bud Weber, Mr. Statler, a native of Huntley, told of his experiences In Japan, hu his very informative talk, Mr. St^er told <rf the many tecTnnological advances over the past several decades. Also the various socio-economic changes that have taken place in that country.
In other, business at this meeting, the Lions will once again be selling X-mas trees on the Square. The lions will also be present at the Grade School December Is) for the Annual X-mas Program. Dec. 16 is the date set for Ladies Nite at the Iron Skillet in Algonquin with initi¬ ation of the following new members: Hany Purdom, Claries Ruth, Dave Kosman and Richard David.

He stressed the need for more recognition of county and State government by the federal government The con¬ gressman further stated tiiat he wanted to be close to thds County so tnat he wouftd be better able to serve them. He had just returned from a Boy Scout jamboree at Oys¬ tal I-ake where he was also a speaker and before that he had par!idpated in the swearing in of the newly elected at the new count house in the morning.
