ROBERT FRANKS
In the near future, the Villaee of Huntley wail be in the middle of its most iirportai^ years. Tlie im- ntediate futur:; wil brinj growth, and growth trrings many cbaoges to any viliage. This ptjwth may be oroerly. Tliis growth may be dhaotic and disruptive. Aai it v^l> be the- viHt«e tnieAees that dedde tiie fidi mewure aod impact of that gnamth. Tljey win deckle if that growth is plaened and orderiy, beneficial and welcomed. They wiil also bea^ #» primary ieapo«u4biUtyH that^'girowtii is disnq>tive, coitfy and ^rhaotic. As pre.sent chairman of HunU^'s Ftan- ning Commission, I am weil aware of lhe problems and Concerned with Bltjwlll.
To insure that our growth is or¬ deriy and beneficiaJ will require sound and fair judgement, hard work, imagination, a pooling of local talent and resources, andioasperation between the members of this oom¬ munity an dour local government:
It is my belief tiiat ( can help form the guidelines flor growth thait win make our community a better plpce to live. And t>ecaiise of thai belief, I am raiMiii>g<for the paeMJan of village trustees. I have formed this belief on the basis of experi¬ ence, eduicatimi, ability, and age. I am 35 years old and bave lived in Huntley since 1966. I was born Sep¬ tember 22, 1938 in Lake City, Iowa. Educational' background includes: graduate of Lake View High School^ Lake View, Iowa. Graduate of Beuna Vist? College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, and did ginhiate work at the University of Nebraska, Lin- cdii, ebnaska; received a Bachelor of Divinity frwn the University of Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa. Was awarded the hwiorary Doctor of Di¬ vinity in 1969. Received the Mastec of Sacred Theotogy and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in .September of 1972 from the University of Iowa, Giaduate SchotM of Reli^n, Iowa City. Iowa. Since 1966, I have beea pe.stor of the First Congregational Chiu-ch of HunUey.
I have served on various Boards, Councils and Committees of the Northern Association ,aad Illinois Conference of the United Chtirch of Christ. Itits denominational work en¬ tailed th ecreative aod administra¬ tive work with and for groufis of from 21 to 460 diurthes.
I was maaried to the former Carol J. Kubasiewitz of Rochester, New York July 30, 1961. We have two children, Robert Lee Jr. who is 11 nnd Carl Benjamin who is 5.
I endeavor to bring to fihe Boand of Village Trustees an open and in¬ dependent viewpoint, a viewpoint that always is determined by con- sideratioTt of wh»t is best for the citizens of Huntley. A viewpoint that has only the cioncen for tbe entire
welfare of this ooaiaiunity, free from any speetal'interest, and free from any (les(i« ta grihd personal axest. I can promise thsit on ony vote, on- any dsc'sicB,- on any concem, tliat I will do everytking in my power to copsMer aH of theelements involved aacl arfive at-« tiecision ihnt repre¬ sents the setttMient of the parties iAvbl^ed aai Dhfehest iotcrests of the town ItMtf. Thus, any ma)or de¬ cision miul.fae reached only after full hsartoiiB of «i) <he pertinent de¬ tails''M4'tiartMl'cooaitleration of Qte|NMsMilft ISlpttUkct tteit dscMoft.
ccnunui^y <he necessary time and effdrt needed to insure an erderly and benefidal future.
Ii ispesaifaMfor me in port, to in¬ dicate the scope, extent, and diree. tion of my caiidi*H!y by SfPae aev- etai of the- proposals Hha/t' T would piescnt to Dbe ViUage Board of Trasteeg' it' elsstkd. These propotiais are listed oniy as items of my own pensoKtl cicnenn, and the feelings of iMer>y oftKe peaple that have men- ticned their views to me personally. j\ti<i it is impTttaitt te note that they ace not Hated in any system of priority:
1. Elimination of tlie City Vc hide Sticker. With the advent of Federal Revenue sbaring and tMs important source of added inoome to the dty of Huntley, some tax burdens should be etiminated, and this is tiie most logk»l and easiest fiiSKC, to start
2. Adoptku by the City of Hunt¬ ley of a Jnoksd Car-Ofdinanee. At the present time, the village of Huntiey does not have a problem whh junked cans. But when the problem occurs, A's too late to pass an ordinance regulating junked cars^
:-. Adoption by the Village of Huntley of a strict Buildfatg Code tliat oovers and regulates ail new structures. Growth will bring major new constructifon aad let's have this construction regidated now, before any miqor new construction or sub¬ division begins.
Encouragement of Businesses on the frnge area nf city linuts, to annex to city. Services aie being afforded, txit the salee tai is going to the county and not into our city funds wiiere it sboudd be.
4. The VUlage of HunUey should iKk^it an OnUnance covering the li* censing of all Rctc^ Wbclesale and Manufacturing businesses. With Ikia ordinaoee it wouM be posslbie to control tbe future growth of Hunt¬ ley in such la ftishion that our looal bwinesses and nwoutlMwing oon- cems are teiily oonsidsred ank^ttie shopping interests of our local citi- zeiis are protected.
5. The Vttage of Huntley shoidd take whatever steps, legal end other, to compel the Railroad to erect CreaaiBg Cuanls or Gates in ooa-
