The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Hunltey Consolidated Schools, Huntley, Illinois was held in the High School building on February 16, 1989 at 7:30 pm.
The meeting was called to order by the President at 7:37 pm. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Ms. Ahrens, Mrs. McDonald, Mr. Crabill, Mr. Greve, Mr. Heavey, Mr. Bauman. Absent: Mr. Freeberg. All present joined in the pledge to the flag.
1. Mrs. McDonald moved, Mr. Crabill 2nd to approve the minutes of the Jan. 19 regular meeting as written.
6 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried.
2. Mrs. McDonald moved, Mr. Heavey 2nd to approve payment of monthly agenda of bills
and imprest. Education - $37,165.27; OBM - $15,731.08; Transportation - $3,808.87. Yeas: McDonald, Heavey, Ahrens, Crabill, Greve, Bauman; Nays: None. 6 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried.
3. Mrs. McDonald moved, Mr. Crabill 2nd to approve the proposal of Eder, Riedel, ii Co. to provide required auditing services for FY 89.
6 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried.

The Huntley Senior Center personnel are sponsoring a "Meet the Candidates" day this Saturday, March 18th, at the American Legion from 10 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.
The response has been very good with 21 candidates planning to attend in support of this valuable community project. There may be a couple who will not be able to be there for personal reasons or if their regular job does not permit them to do so. However, we have asked that those candidates send someone to represent them.
The Seniors will be serving coffee - plus, and ask that you come, "Meet the Candidates", ask questions, discuss issues and then VOTE on April 4th.
"Pancakes"
The Huntley Boy Scouts will be hosting a Pancake Breakfskst on Sunday, March 19 at the Huntley American Legion. A delicious meal is promised and the proceeds will help the scouts with their projects. "See you there!"
Lions Annual      Steak Fry
The Lions annual steak fry was a delicious and sociable evening for all who attended. The Huntley Lions and some of their ladies were enjoying the evening serving a capacity crowd at the American Legion Saturday night. The Lions would like to thank all the folks who help to support their fund raiser and make it a most memorable evening. Money from the steak fry will help finance community activities.

School Board President Jim Heavey and retiring Board member Jan Schadt enjoy the reception honoring Jan's 5 years of service to Huntley School District 158.
For more than 5 years Jan Schadt has been a major force on the Huntley District 158 School Board.
This last week Jan resigned her position to enjoy her leisure time with husband Gerald and their son Andy, a 1988 graduate of Huntley High School, who is now attending College in Missouri.
While a member of the School Board. Mrs. Schadt was in charge of the Policy Committee. Due to her leadership, District 158 Policy was revised and brought up to date, all Board Policies and the latest laws of the State of Illinois Rules & Regulations of the Board of Education were revised under her supervision.
Serving as District 158 Board liaison person to McHenry Co. Special Education District, she served on the Sedom Board of Directors in Woodstock for many years. Jan also serving as Chairperson on the Legislative Committee Board of the Kiswaukee Division of the Illinois Association of School Boards. She was instrumental in receiving good legislation for District 158.
For many years Jan has been active in District 158's P.T.O. serving as President and helping with the Halloween spook house, fun fair, room mother, and was the head of the group of parents and teachers who designed and built Tire Town on the grade school play- ground. Jan has always been willing to help the children of our District and has been a real asset to our School Board.

The Proponents for the Huntley District Library, will have an Auction on Sunday, April 16, 1 pm - 4 pm at Seven Acres Museum, Union, Illinois. Proceeds will be used to support the November referendum for a Huntley District Library. Items are needed for the Auction.
Early spring cleaning always brings discoveries in every household of items no longer needed. These items make a Good Buy for someone who needs them. Household items, crafts, antiques, gift
certificates, books, cookies, any saleable and useable item is welcome - big or small.
There will be a display of books which can be purchased for a donation. All other items will be auctioned.
A "Sweets Table" will be provided for free refresh¬ ments. Homemade cookies or bars can be donated.

Blood Bank Drive
The Blood Bank Drive for Heartland Blood Center, formerly called the Aurora Area Blook Bank, will be held on March 28, 1989 from 3 to 7-PM at the Congregational Church in the Social Hall. Calls will be made by Unit members of Huntley Unit #673 of the American Legion Auxiliary a few days previous to the Blood Drive. Please mark you calendar so you won't forget to be a donor since blood is badly needed.
