April Park Board Meeting MEETING OF THE HUNTI.EY PARK DISTRICT The regular meeting of the Hunt- ley Pfufc District Board was held on Wednesday, April 25th 1973 at 8:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order by President Parisek, with Commissioners Deicke, Mackeben, Parisek & Tures present and Com¬ missioner Ream absent Also in at¬ tendance were Mr. Bob Vick, of No¬ vak & Carlson, Mr. Larry Kahl and Mr. Ronald Stioup. The secretary was asked to read the minutes of the previous meet¬ ing of March 28, 1972, after which a motion -was made by Mr. Tures, seconded by Mr. Mackeben, to ap¬ prove the minutes as read. All Com¬ missioners voted aye and the mo¬ tion carried. The Treasurers report was then presented showing a balance in the checking account of $6,332.92. A motion was made by Mn. Parisek, seconded -by Mr. Tures, to accept the report as read. All Commission¬ ers voted aye and the i-eport was filed for audit Mr. Larry Kahl was then rcoog¬ nized and reiwrted that after check¬ ing the ooTidition of the picnic tables at Hie park, he found that the sax original tables, which were donated by the Huntley Fire Department, are now in very bad shape, leaving us (CoatlDiied on Page Two) PARK BOARD Summer School Program REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER SCHOOL Summer school will be in session fixmi Friday, June 8 through Fri¬ day luly 13 from 8:30 until 12 noon. July 4tlh; will be a legal holiday. Registraltion will be accepted May 1 through 11. Wc hope to structure our program so as to provide a true balance of freedom and control. Emphasis will be upon enrichment rather than re¬ medial help. Activities will be less formail than during the regular school year and will require more movement and less sitting. Provision Ls being made for a large number of field trips, some which may ex¬ tend into tSie afternoon hours. The instruction will bo b^ed cm a team teaching approach. (Notice the following change in grade divi¬ sion from previous letter about sum¬ mer school.) Grades 1 & 2 will be taugh by Mrs. Diana Lenard and Miss Lois Shea. Mrs. Kalhorine Leg¬ gee and Miss Cirolyn Lochridgc vvill supervise grades 3, 4 & 5. Grades 6, 7 & 8 will be under the direction of Mrs. Nancy Fike and Mr. Don Perry. Tbe summer program will be under Ihe direction of Mr. Glen Delaney. He and Mr. Larry Lincoln will wM-k along with the teachers in providing assistance and special learning situations to the Students. An estimated $ 1,000.00 gross was realized from this event. More ac¬ curate figures will be published iin next weeks Huntley Farmside. Ac¬ cording to Mr. N. M. Miller, presi¬ dent of tho State Bank of Huntley and an officer on the Medicai Cen¬ ter Board, funds raised from the Pancake Day will be applied to pay¬ ing off the existing mortgage and current financial cbligations. The medical center was built in the late 1950's thromgh funds raised by the citizefB of Huntley. The land on which the center sitands was do¬ nated to the corporation by Mr. K. P' Bakley with the stipulation that it be used for medical care only. Then Gov. WiUiam J. Stratton came to Huntley on a Sunday after¬ noon to dedicate tbe center. In his speech the Govennor stated ttiat this was OTie of two medical centers beinig built in IQincHs. He added that it was bis hope that a whole series of such centers would be buik bringing medical faciliies within the reach of thousands of people in oom- munities such as Huntley. Since that time Huntley has had three doctors and two dentists.
