Doug 8triclvlaud Found Alter Missing S Hours Between 60 and 100 citizens from Huntley galbhered at Big Timber Road Sunday moniiing approximately 1 mile east of Route 20 to search for Doug Strickland, wlvj was miss- ii>g after his car was involved in an automobile accident the nig-ht before. Doug was returning from work at a cinema in Carpenitersvillc when the car he was driving leit Ure road and bit a telephone pole. He reportedly does not remember anything of the accident, the events that lead up to it or how he got in the comfield. TTie Srickland car was discover^ ed by State Police at 4:.'0 a.m. They reported the accident to Hunt¬ ley Police, who contacted thr' boy's parents, Mr. and Mr.s. Eugene Strickland of Lincoln Street, HuiDt^ ley. Doug's parents conlaclej Mr. Joe Manning and Mr. Manning as- seruhled. the entire Huntley High School football to search for Doug, who for yeare has been manager of the teain. His wife contacted the clergv- of the three Huntley church¬ es who prayed for Doug and sent out the alarm for searchers. Mem¬ bers of the Fire Department Rescue Squad, Boy Scouts, the entire foot¬ ball team and people of aU ages from evei7 walk of life gathered to find the boy. He was located between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. by K. P. Bakley and llarTy Hughes wbon he emerged from a cornfield. Doug was taken tok Highland Hospital, Belvidere, by his parents for observation He was released early this week and planned to ix?turn to school on Wed¬ nesday. On Aug¬ ust 18th. information was received from the Elgin Police Department that they had apprehended a sub¬ ject attempting to oash Mie of Ithe checks at a bank in dieir dty.
