Day Camp: Each week a different theme will be highlighted. Although themes are sports, participants will have a choice in the activities they wish to do, such as arts ii crafts, nature activities and other sessions offered by the Park District during the camp times, such as dance & crafts. Groups will be divided by age. A complete schedule is available at the park office. Dave Bruce, P.E. instructor for Huntley School District is the camp coordinator and will be assisted by the Park District Staff. Field trips and/or special events will be offered each week (an additional fee for bus trips will be charged). Participants should bring a sack lunch. This is for ages 6-12. The day camp will be from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The fee will be $40 per week/$30 for 2nd child from the same family and $50/$40 for non¬ residents. Please register one week in advance. Swimming Lessons: Our swimming lessons are taught in compliance with Red Cross guidelines by certified instructors and aides. Levels include beginners through Jr. Lifesavers. A class for Sr. Lifesavers can be offered, please let us know if you're interested. Classes are indoors with a small teacher/ student ratio. If a student cannot attend the entire two-week session, he/she may sign up for only one week Sessions are weekdays June 12-23. The times include being picked up and dropped off by bus at Deicke Park. They will be Mon. 9:30-11:30, Tues., Wed., & Fri. 10:30- 12:30 and Thur. 8:30-10:30. Don't Miss Out! The lessons will be held at YMCA in Elgin. The fee will be $35 ($20 for a week), $45 ($25 for one week) non¬ residents. The instructor will be Chris Follman. Please register by June 5. Creative Movement: Age 3-5 participants will improve coordination and balance, exercise memory, increase confidence and improve their ability to socialize with other children in a disciplined atmosphere. Wear loose fitting clothes. It will be an 8 week session, on Mondays, June 12- August 7 (skip July 3). The time will be 1:00-1:45 pm. The fee will be $20/$25 non¬ residents. Please register by June 7. Ballet: Ballet develops both mind and body. It increases poise, grace, coordination, strength and rhythm. Participants will gain appreciation of classical and modern music. Ages 5-7 girls are required to wear ballet pink tights, leotard ii shoes. Boys should wear shorts & white sox or black ballet shoes. Ages 7-10 should wear tight ii leotards or shorts ii pink ballet shoes. The session will be 8 weeks. Ages 5-7 will be Mon., June 12-Aug. 7 (skip July 3) from 2:00-2:45. Ages 7-10 will be Wed., June 14-Aug. 2 from 1:00-2:00. The fee will be $20/$25 non-residents. Please register by June 7. Tap & Ballet: Same as ballet with Tap Dancing added! 1/2 hour of each will be included in the 8 week session. Tap shoes required. Ages 5-7 are Mon., June 12- Aug. 7 (skip July 3) from 3:00-3:45. Ages 7-10 are We<J. June 14-Aug. 2 from 2:30- 3:30. The fee will be $20/$25 non-residents. The deadline is June 7. Have you filled out your pledge forms for the Suminer Read-a-Thon? The Read-a-Thon and reading program sponsored by the Huntley Area Library Fund begins Tuesday, June 13 at 9 a.m. in the Media Center at the Huntley Grade School. "Older American Month" is being celebrated throughout the state and country. Huntley's Seniors get together on a regular basis at the First Congregational Church. '-, 'J • i^; Viola Knaak is treasurer of the Senior Club and Vera Swanson is Secretary as well as being on the board of the Huntley Senior Center. Louise Kreutzer is the director of Meet 'N Eat and the Senior Center. Nancy Grimes is on the board of the Senior Center, Doris Ball is Vice President of the Senior Club and on the board of the Senior Center while Fred Ahrens is President of the Senior Club. s^i^^!^ The Senior Citiznes Club meets on the fourth Thursday of each month featuring a pot luck lunch, bingo, cards and lots of visiting. On the remaining Thursdays the group gets together to "Meet 'N Eat" with the Senior Center. Sand Box Fill The Huntley area Jaycees will be holding their annual sand box fill on Sunday, June 11th. Deliveries will be made up to two miles of town. Other people interested in sand can call and make arrangements for sand pick up. To call for sand deliveries or sand pick up call 669-5957 or 669-3776. The Huntley Jaycees would like to thank D & Z Transfer for donating sand this year. Congratulations Golf Lessons Huntley Park District together with Pinecrest Country Club is sponsoring a series of golf lessons for all ages. All lessons will be held on Thursdays, beginning June 15 at Pinecrest and will be instructed by golf pro, Mike Yakley. Mike will have an assistant for the Junior lessons to insure that all levels will be covered, beginners through advanced. Junior lessons will be held from 10:00-11:00 for 7 weeks. The fee is $7.00 per lesson or $40.00 for the 7 week series. Adult lessons will be held from 6:00-7:00 for 6 weeks. The fee for these 6 lessons is $40.00 also. To benefit from the class, you should attend the entire series. To register for lessons, call Huntley Park District at 669-3180 or Pinecrest Country Club at 669-3113 by June 10.
