In order to pump water from the new weU into the tower the water coming from the old well had to be shut off and the pressure in tJie main emptied. Mr. Randy Wood¬ man of the engineering firm of Bax¬ ter and Woodman can be seen open¬ ing one of the hydrants releasing the presure on the main in tihe back ground Percy Swanson of the Hunt¬ ley Street Dept. can be seen turning off the water from the old well as K. P. Baley who donated the fund where the tower and the well house is located. After a brief ceremony the engineers turned the large valve and commenced the pumping of the water into the tower at the rate of 600 gallons per minute. The tower was % filled on Tuesday the remain¬ ing Vi on Tliursday. In tiie near future the old well will be shut off and the new tower and well will be put into <^)eratioD. The tower resembles a large golf Lions Cloli Donates $2S(I For Band Uniforms Lion President, Eldon Pfaff save a check to Supt LeRoy Marks at the last Lions Club Meeting in the amount of $250.00. Tlie check was given to the School District for the purchase of Band uniforms. The amount represented three ctMnplete Band Uniforms and % of another. The High School Band has been showing a steady growth for the past few years; therefore the ciieck was welcomed by the District. The District has been hard pressed to provide the growing Band with Uni¬ forms that are reasonably fit for each Band member. It is estimated that Bai^ will continue to grow in sire for at least two more years. The Lions Club has a long His¬ tory in supporting Youth Activities in Huntley. The Lions Club had been a contributor to the original purchase of the New Band Uni¬ forms in 1967. Other Youth Activ¬ ities sponsored by the Lions has been the Miss Huntley Contest, Teener League, Baseball sports banquet and the grade school bas¬ ketball tournament. This fail a similar amount was donated to the school to facilitate the purchase of a seven man blocking sled for the Football Team. Lion Treasuruer Mel Ewert said that in 1970 the Lions Club of Huntley has invested $1,700.00 for the benefit of Huntley Youth. (See picture <m page two) ball on a tee and stands 55 feet high. A large ladder enclosed with a safety guard rail permits workmen to climb to the 3rd platform which is directly beneath the ball which houses tiie water. A tunnel device extends through the ball itself to the top of the tower to permit the servicing of a 2 air craft wamiiig light at the top of the ball. The new tower is turned on. Water from the old tower will be decreased slowly aa. the direction of the flow in fhe mains will be reversed. Cuh Master Honored On Novemljer 23, the Huntley Cub Scouts held their pack meeting in the basement of the Lutheran Church. A skit was presented by Den /. Following the skit the boys received their awards: Bob Cat pins were presented to the following boys: Ricky Shotliff, Dale Gray, Gary Schultze, Robert Burgess, Dannie Stallbaum, Mike Groesser, Jim Wil¬ liams, Robert Saunders, Jeff Sikula. Joey Zorica and Eric Davis: Denner bars went to Jim Williams, Dannie Stallbaum, Bob Burgess, and Dale Gray: Assistant Denner bars to Jeff Sikula, Bruce Johnson, Dan Shaller and Robert Frank: Tim Swanson re¬ ceived his Bear Badge. The Webelos received their awards as follows: Outdoorsman: David Skyette, Jeff Susanke, Randy School¬ ey, Phil Donahue, Eric Davis, Gregg DeDina, Greg Shaller, Steve Griches, Randy Behrens and Bob Gray: Na- turelfet: Phil Donahue and Brian Tessmeir: Craftsman: David Sky¬ ette, Jeff Susanke, Randy Shooley, Phil Donahue, Eric Davis, Gregg DeDina, Greg Shaller, Steve Grich¬ es.
