School Out Early September 4th
Huntley school will be dismissed at 2:30 P M. Thursday. September 4th. The early closing of school will permit teachers to complete thp last two hours of a workshop start¬ ed on Auirust 25th.

But what is new is "in- service" programs to tie equipment and curriculum materials into a package which tranlates into a more meaningful instructional pro¬ cess. Teachers are taught to uso sets of transparencies that foim i basic program. The preparation of transparencies was the emphasis last Monday.
Lions Cluh Annual Picnic
The annual Lion's Club picnic was held this year at the .lames Lane residence on Sunday, August 24th, with 36 members and" wives present. A coofewt and corn roast was enjoyed by all, along with playing hose-shoes and bodminton The commitiee in charge of the picnic were Bill Kuestner, Chair¬ man and Art Wicke with the as¬ sistance of Mr. Lane.
Htmtley came in 4th in their own waterfight competition tournament last Sunday. Auguist 24th. The tum- ument was held on Coral Street between 2nd axic' Woodstock. Com¬ ing in 1st place was Carpentersville for the third year in a row. Wood¬ stock City took 2nd and West Dun- doe, 3rd. Each of these teams re¬ ceived a tijiphy. -

Adult chaparons for fhe trip were Biickand Lube Bakley, fed ttnd Vl Williams, Norm Brettschneider, Charlea Roesslein, and Gene aiad f^Wmii Lindsey.

A team comprised of NtXD mem¬ bers battled one of members of the Huntley's Lions Club, The NFO vic¬ torious. There was ,some co.Timent that the organization fought dirty. However,- eipekusrtpm !otrti»r1ftiio stated, "How could anybody be dirty with all that water?''
The fire departme!nt had trophies for both teams, a rock to be pre¬ sented to the members of the Lion's Club and playing cards to the NFO. However, the NFO re¬ ceived both awards.
The final event permitted the children attending theafiair to par¬ ticipated in the water fights. It is estimated that upwards of 60 child ren participated in them. Firemen
had planned on 10 children panici- patjng in the fights.
The waterfights between the ladies, children, NFO and Lion's Club wei^ fought with water at hydrant pressuie, rather than the high pressure hoses the ficemen used.

Regular SchdH Board Meeting
The ii-gslai- meeting of the Huntley School Board was held on Monday. August25 in the Board ^oom at the high school.
A motion was made hf Mr. Bein seconded by Miar Rackeben that all excess mercirtedise sold by de- pa-tmtnts that the Initiiil coat go^ back tn the department and the balance goes lo the district fund. This motion carried 6 Yeas and 1 nay with Mr. Bastain casting the nay vote.
Many times a department will save money by purchasing gover- ment surplus item in lat-ge quantit¬ ies. This means that there are al¬ ways extras which could be sold to the public.
A' motion was made by Mr. Bein seconded by Mrs. Thnin to approve of the purchase of a cyclone fence frMn the Pox 'Valley Fence Com¬ pany for the sum of $834. That motion carried 7 yeas.
