There were manv got d l'i',;ati and everyone co-oper- atod very well. The float winnns were as fol¬ lows: there was ;'. tie for third place between the Irishman class an,I the co-op. Th" }-"reshman's 1heni • was — "Well Beal hm to the Ball' and the co-op war "Highway to Vic¬ tory". Second place went to I'le Senicrs. Their theme was "We'll Wipe Tim Out. ' lirst place went t;) tho Sophomores ai^cl their theme wa.^ "We'll Bury 'r.ni" I'irst place float received $20.00, -econd place $I5.0;I and third place T 10.00. All of the classes would hke to send a inost humble thank-you to all the class sponsors for odiii^j a marvelous job. All the classes would like to thank any person who donated any type of thing to Honiei'oming. This years royality were crowned on Monday of licmecoming Week, so thoy could reign over all the fes¬ tivities involved with Homecomin^j;. This years King was Len Borhart and the Queen wai> Janet Spradli.n. The "Queen's" court are Gloria Koch, Sue Kalsow. Teresa Wiesneth, and Nancy Rohlwinpr The King's court are Pat Donahue, John Hust¬ ler, Rick Master and Dan Fruin. This years Snake Dance and Bon¬ fire turned out well. It really lifted the spirit of the school. The snake was longer than usual and tho speeches made at the bonfire turned out to be real good. This year's Homecoming Dance - had a bette^p turn out than last year, but. It still wasn't very well attend- DeWane Studio ed \ '.¦' hand was "Brothorhiv) Mountain" and played very good, Teresa W!i snoth and Delia Grashe 1 :illy [-111 a lot ol effort and hard v. .rk iiUc. building the dance and ihis uas a le.ii -u.cess. 1 would also like to <mend a 1iiank-you to Mr. Deiiniey f(.r workmu so hard. I,a Societs dc Fem- me d' Illinois was held at the Hunt¬ ley American legion last Saturday evening. The affair was well attend¬ ed and a variety of sausages were served. Funds raised from this event will be used for the nurses pecurent of the society. The organization wishes to thank all those who at¬ tended this affair and hopes to see them again next year. School Board Report The first October meet ng of th ^ Huntley School Board was held Mon¬ day. October 12. in the board room of the Huntley Consolidated School. School tnistei's present were: Mr. Jfrik, Mr. Basti; n. Mr. Michelsen. Mis; Mackehen, and Mr. Stading Mr. Brandwein nnu Mr. Bein wore absent. A motion was made by Mi.ss Mac¬ keben, seconded by Mr. Michelsei to approve ih? m;i:i:tes as read. Th'S motion carried 5 yeas and 0 nayes. Meeting stood adjourned. Legion Hallotreen Rarty The Huntley American Legion will bold their annua! Halloween Dance on Saturday October 31, from 10 P,M, to 2 A.M. Music for the dance will be provided by the Bob Moehl- ing Orchestra. This is a costume affair, although people who not wish¬ ing to dress up in Halloween garb may attend In informal dress. Cash prizes will be awarded for the 3 top costumes.. Judging is at at 11 P.M. Notice The Regular School Meeting for District 158 will be held Monday, Oct. 26, 7:45, The meeting will be held in the board room. Delia is work¬ ing at the Catty Corporation as a switchboard operator, receptionaiat and many of the olher jobs which ar« performed in the office. Tom is employed at the Highway Transportation Institute ae assistant to the tnirli driver training instructors and he ig also performiBg maintenance on triiiks to lieep the school trucks in operating con¬ dition. Monday evening Tom Hoffmani and Delia Graske accompanied Mrf Roger Simpson, their Class Advisor! and his wife Barbara to Northeml Illinois University. Mr. Simp.son and| Barbara are both enrolled in a Busi¬ ness Education course dealing withj Vocational Education Programs. Education Program, three studonlsj from Hlk Grove High School repre- IRoger Simpson has been well re- jceived by the community and by the [students. The Coop Club — In- Idustrial Vocatio.ial Club of Amer- lica (V.I.C.A.) started the year off jwith a tie for 3rd place in the home- (coming parade. Plans are now under way for a Jfund raising Project. Classroom activites have also been ienriched by havinig persons from j outside tho school make pre- sentation.s. Two have been senting a Cooperative Work Train-I^ ^ made by Representatives of the ing (CWT) program, and one student and two craduaie;, from the Deer- field Hig'h School representing a dis- . tributive Kducation (DK) Program.^ Dr. K. Edward Harris, Professor from the Department of Business Education acted as tho moterator. Questions about students and their programs wore directed to the visit¬ ing students by Dr. Harris. Ques¬ tions were thcn opened up to tho class as a whole. The general make¬ up of the class was that of future teacher coordinators. The students were very honest and direct with their comments and criticisms about teachers and tho merits of the particular programs. The students were also given the opportunity to direct questions at the future co¬ ordinators. One can only be proud of these students who are growing up and learning how to shoulder the re¬ sponsibilities of the world of work. The students who were present made a very good showing. The Cooperative Education Pro¬ gram under the direction of Mr. r Illinois Boll Telephone Co. One talk V was about the areas available in the ifl Communications field and the other / was a demonstration on the proper • use of the Telephone. We also had Army and Navy Recruiters in to tell , about the careers available in the service. This year we have 28 students and they are employed by the fol¬ lowing firms: Anderson Electric, Jim Spinolas; B & B Service, Russell Broughton; Case Farm Implements, Dennis Diedrick; Catty Corporation, Delia Graske: Don's Super Valu, Dale Heine; Hansford Chevrolet, Rick Diedrick; Freund Bros., Martin Koppen and Dan Fruin; Huntley Farm Store, John Hutsler, Huntley Farmside, Chris Peterson; Marlowe Hatchery, Keith Maynard and Hal Shott; A.
