Kindergarten Registration
Parents are urged to note tbat kind«-garten registration for the 1968-70 school year will be held at Huntley Elementary School on Tues¬ day, March 25. from 8:30 to 13 noon, and 1:30 to 3 P.M. Proof oi the child's date of birth, iw«ferably an (rfficial birth certificate should be submitted at the time of regis¬ tration. Other written evidence of date of birth may bo accepted. Tho child must be five years old before December 1, 1969.
If a parent cannot attend, some¬ one else, preferably an adult who can supply informatiwi about the diild, may attend and register the duld.
It is extremely inqx^tant that there is a complete registratkm of all diildren who will be in kinder¬ garten in Huntley PubUc Schools next year If you have a friend or nei^ibor wbo has an eligible kinder- gartner for next year, you are asked to please pass tiie message on re¬ garding the date and time.

The regular meeting of the Hunt ley School Board was held on Wed¬ nesday, March 12th, in the board room of the high sdiool. Following the routine business the board' heard Mrs. Leroy Anderson a teacher at tbe scbool.
Mrs. Anderson asked permission for her and several other teachers who are members of the Conservat- l<m of the HEA, to attend the open meeting of the Huntley Park Board to be held on Tuesday, March 26. Jlrs. Anderson stated she wanted to attend the meeting to ask the park board to keep the park in iUs natural state. She added tfaat she had taken her class, with the permis¬ sion of her students' parents, into ihe park to teach them about nature. Mrs. Anderson said that in a course she bad taken, she had been told by the professor about the park and he had said our school district was certainly fortunate to have a park ot this type so near. He added Mrs. Anderscm said, diat in other districts, students had to be bused many miles to see the same thing which Huntley has adjacent to it's proi>«iy.
Mr. Marks next reported on the sex-hetlth program at the sdiool. Mir. -Marks -stated tiiat 22 families had registered for tiie series. Mr. Marks said that the YMCA is con¬ sidering, if the program goes well as anticipated, to hcrfd a sex educa¬ tion dass for the Sth and 6th grade and possibly one for girls. The pres¬ ent course is for the 7th and Sth grade boys at sdiod.
A thank you was received by the board from the Huntley Lion's Club for the cooperation in the An¬ nual Lion's Club junior high bas¬ ketball tournament, held in Hunt¬ ley each year.
Mr. Stading stated that the board should form a new committee when conomittees were designated to in¬ vestigate acquiring additional land adjacent to the school district. Mr. Stading said that there are several fartners who have expressed a desire to come into the district
Mr. Marks reported that the achocd will be retiring about 100 chain again this year. Last year the retired chairs were sold at the Music Boosters Auction.
The Superintendent reported that tbe commercial class at school bad a I»t>Ject of, making posters. He sug¬ gested to the teadier that possibly the posters wpuld have more mean¬ ing if the students would make them on tbe March 16th referendunL The posters were to emphasize the theme that Saturday was the day of tiw eleethm and were not to push either an aflSrmative or a negative vote on the passage of tihe refer¬ endum. Mr. Marks stated that on some of the posters, the students became over-zealous and urged the passage of the referendtmi. Mr. Marks rejwrted that some of the teachers in the HEA luid asked if there wonld be a possibil¬ ity of changing the Easter vacation from April Srd to the Sth to March Slst through April 6th. Tills would mean the cliildren would go back to Khool oa the Monday after Eas ter, AprU 7th. This vacation is gtvM to the students because tbe snow days set aside at the beginning of the year were not used up. The

Commander Robert Schultz accept¬ ed the first block of stamps, whicii were a personal gift from Post¬ master Dick Mickelsen, and pre¬
sented them to Mayor Wilpault BriU.
The spedal issue stamp was de¬ signed by Robert HaUeck of Newton, Conn. It shows the eagle dutdiing an olive branch, symbol of peace and is printed in read, white and blue.
Eleven Fires Since March 2
As of Monday, March 17, the Huntiey firemen had responded to 11 fire caUs since the beginning of the month. The first of these calls was on March 2, at the Jim Hen¬ ning farm located on Church Rd. The firemen were caUed at 3:60 p.m. and arrived at the scene at i:06. This was a grass fire. In charge if this fire was Assist¬ ant Fire Chief Leonard Ackman.
On March 11, Huntley firemen were caUed at 11:46 to extinguish a fire on the Anderson farm, south of Huntley. This too, was a grass fire. The officer in charge of this fire call was Ed Piske.
The next day, March 12, firemen were caUed to the Earl Segal prop¬ erty on the Hundey-Harmony Rd. to extinguish another g:rass fire. The fireman in diarge of this fire eaU was Nonnan Zimmerman. That same day, firemen were called to extinguish a grass fire on Dean St. The fireman in charge of this fire call was Assistant Fire Chief Leonard Ackman.
On March 13, another grass fire was reported on Harmony Rd. about 2:06 p.m. L. Ackman, Asst. Fire Chief was in diarge.
On Mareh 14, a fire was report¬ ed at 12:30 p.m. at the Huntiey Medical Center. This too was a grass fire. Fireman in diarge (rf this Ht^ was Norm Zimmerman.

Band & Choral Contest Results
The Band and Chorus State Or¬ ganizational Contest was held at Hia¬ watha High Sdiool at Kirkland, IU., on Saturday, Mar. 17th. AK>roxi- imately 30 "C schools partidpated in the contest.
Ninety students from Huntley took part in the contest, under the direc¬ tion of ihe band director, Mr. Tirk, and the music director, Mrs. John¬ son.
Tile band played three numbers. They are; Trilogy, Fantasy for Band, and Overture in B-flat.
The girls diorus sang Anthems for Spring and The Bride.
The mixed dionis sang Now Sing We Joyfully Unto God, Gloria Ex- celscs from the 12th Mass by Mo¬ zart.
The band received an excellent or 2nd rating, the girls diorus received an excellent or 2nd place rating. The mixed chonB received a super¬ ior or Is iplace rating.
Each group was judged by four judges — eadi giving a rating of superior, exceUent, good, fair, or poor. The final rating is an aver¬ age of the fou r ratings. The band received exceUent, supedor, excel¬ lent, and excellent, giving them a final rating of exceUent or 2nd place.
"Hie girls diorus received superior, excell«it, good and superior which gave them a final rating of excel¬ lent or 2nd place. The mixed dtorus received superior ratings from, aU four judges giving tbem a fm^ rat¬ ing of superior or lat i^aoe.
Referendum Passes By 51
A total of 395 votes were cast in last Saturday's Educational Fund Election. 222 peoi^e voted yes and 171 no. There were 2 spoiled baUots cast
On December 14, 106S the t/uaac proposal was defeated by Hunfley voters 156 to 139. In tiiat election 197 baUots were casts wtth 3 spoiled.
The passage of tfae election will rais the Educational Fund Tax to 2.21 percent of the assessed evalu¬ ation. This is an increase of $.40 per $100 assessed evaluatk>n over the fOTmer rate.
Money from the educational fund is used to pay teachers salaries and equipment used for the education of the children.
