The officers to be installed are: Commander, John Goehl- Sr. Vice Commander, Jim Manning; Jr. Vice-Commander. Frank Pariseck; Sgt-at-Arms, Robert Eckman; Chaplain, Richard Staab; Finance Officer, Robert Schachtner and Historian, Hedwig Leonard. The Installing Officer will be George Ray Hudson, of Hinsdale, Illinois, Past Commander of the Ilth District, who has officiated at many installations. His installing Sgt-at-Arms will be Carroll Lay¬ man, Past Commander of the Hins¬ dale Post of the American Legion. The Huntley Auxiliary Unit 673 will have their installation jointly with the Post on August 16. The women to be installed are: Presi¬ dent, Mable Schultz; Ist Vice Pres ident, Arlene Mattingly; 2nd Vice Presidsent, Betty Jurs; Secretary, Fern Enstrom; Treasurer, Joyce Will; Chaplain, Hedwig Leonard; Hbtorian, Vera Rasmussen and gjt^U-AHns, Vi Jurs. The Installing team for the Aux¬ iliary will be Elaine Murphy of Aurora, Past District Director; Chaplain Ruth Mracheck of Mc¬ Henry, Uth District President; Sgt at-Arms, Eileen Johnson of Auroa, Past District Secretary. Musician, May Chesak of Huntley, Depart¬ ment Sgt-at-Arms. Colors will be presented by the Huntley Redskin All Girl Color Guard, which is sponsored by the Huntley Legion Post. Bob Eckman of the Huntley Post and daughter Debbie will sing appropriate num¬ bers. After the installation lunch will bo served and dancing will follow. As in the past, the public is in¬ vited to the entire program. New Village Atty Appointed Michael Caldwell was appointed village attorney at a special meet¬ ing of the Huntley Village Board held on July 21st, 1969. Mr. Cald¬ well will replace Mr. Henry Cow¬ lin who was not reappointed to the position this year. He attended his first village bo¬ ard meeting last Thursday, August 7th. In addition to being Huntley Village attorney,, Mr. Caldwell is city attorney for Harvard, Illinois. Mr. Caldwell graduated from Loy¬ ola University, taking both his und¬ ergraduate and graduate work to¬ wards a law degree at this school. In tte last County election, Mr. Caldwell ran for State's Attorney on the Democratic ticket. He was unsuccessful in his attemnt for this position. He is presently practicing law under the firm name of Cald¬ well, Bemer and Caldwell in Wood stock, Illinois. In addition to his work as a law¬ yer, Mr. Caldwell is secretary of the McHenry County Bar Associ¬ ation. He is a member of the Ame rican, Illinois State, McHenry Co¬ unty and Chicago Bar Associations Vice President of the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce and mem ber of the Woodstock Industrial Development Conunissicn. Mr. Cald well has a wife, Karen, and two chil^en, Kelly age thriee and Beth, 2. He stated that he thought Huntley was a good town. Regular School Board Meeting The ifegoiar meeting of the Huntley School Board was held Monday, August 11 in the board room of the Huntley high school. Present were Mr. Jirik, Mr. Bast¬ ian, Mrs. Thrun, Mr. Bcin and Mr. Stading. Absent from the meeting were Dr. Grau and Miss Mackeben. A motion was made by Mrs. Thrun, seconded by Mr. Bein, to approve the minutes as read. Mot¬ ion carried 5 yea's, no neys. At this stage of the meeting, Miss Mackeben made her appearance. A motion was made by Mr. Bein, seconded by Mrs. Thrun to pay the regular monthly bills. The motion carried 6 yea's, no nays. A motion was made by Miss Mac¬ keben. seconded by Mr. Bein, to hold tho board and teachers dinner on August 28 at the Timbers in Woodstock. The motion carried. 6 yea's, no nays. A motion was made by Mrs. Thrun, seconded by Mr. Bastian. to approve of the application to junior^ college of Carol Swaab. Stanley Korwin and Mark Reidl. under the Junior College Act. The motion carried 6 yea's, no nays. Mr. Marks reported that Mrs. Fred Harm, secretary of tlie hi?h school submitted her resignation eectlve next week. The Huntley School Board is accepting applicat¬ ions to fill this position. Interested parties should contact Mr. Marks at the Huntley School. The posit¬ ion will be advertised in the local paper first. If no responses are re¬ ceived, it then will be advertised in the out-of-town daily papers. It ¦ was the feeling of the board that the position should first "be offered to a local person who would havo more interest in the school than a person from out of town. The president of the board an¬ nounced that there is an apprentice opening in the sheet metal field. Anyone interested in taking this apprenticeship should contact the high school office. A motion was made by Miss Mac¬ keben, seconded by Mr. Bein, to approve of the Boy Scouts use of the school building on tho 24th of September. Tho motion carried fi yea's, no nays. A motion was made by Mr. Bein, seconded by Mrs. Thrun to hold the public hearing of the annual school budget and appropriation or¬ diance on September 15th at 7:30 in the high school office. The mot¬ ion carried six yea's no nays. At this point the board went into executive session to discuss grade school personnel with Mr. Banks. Following the closed meeting, Mr. Marks said that six typewriters will be sold this year for $30 each on a first-come, first-serve, as-is basis. These typewriters are being retired to be replaced by new equip ment. Those Interested in purchas¬ ing a typewriter, may eontact the high school office. The McHenry County American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary held a joint installation at the Huntley post last Saturday night. August 9th. The meeting was opened by County Commander John Skalany. The Colors were ad¬ vanced by the Huntley Redskin Color Guard, an all-girl color guard, sponsored by the Huntley Post 673. Following the presentat¬ ion of the colors, the Pledge of Al¬ legiance to our Flag, the Preamble to the American Legion Constitut¬ ion and our National Anthem, the meeting was turned over to Mrs. Robert Schultz, 1968-69 president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Schultz read the president's report summerizing her year as president of the county auxiliary. Don Enstrom, newly elected Co¬ unty Commander was recognized. Commander Enstrom, who handled county membership this past year, presented a gift to Audrie Wagner, Auxiliary membership chairman. He stated that this was in payment of a bet which was made between the two organizations a year ago, as to which organization would take in the most members. Com¬ mander Enstrom stated "At the beginning of the year, we made a bet. In August 1968 B.C. .... tfiat's not before Christ, that's be¬ fore Collins." He continued that by the end of the year, the women's membership was up by a very large margin, whereas the men's was not." The McHenry County Auxiliary presented Mrs. Schultz with a Past-President's ring. Mrs. Schultz thanked the Mc¬ Henry County Council for per¬ mitting her to be president this past year as well as all of her offi¬ cers. Mrs. Schults^also thanked the units in the County for their support during her tenace of office. Trustees Ackman, Olhaber, En¬ strom and Staab, President Brill and Clerk Richard Enstrom were present Trustees OConnor and Fitzi were absent. In addition to the regular members of the Village Board, Mr. Michael Caldwell, new¬ ly appointed village attorney, was present at the meeting. This was Mr. Caldwells first meeting Ho was appointed by the board at a special meeting on July 21st. Following the routine reading of the bills, treasurer's report and minutes of the presvious meeting. Mr. Caldwell was given the floor. Mr. CaUwell presented two ordin¬ ances to the Village Board, the Municipal Retailer Occupation Tax Ordinance of 1969 and the Munici¬ pal Service Occupation Tax Oniin- ance of 1969. These ordinances were passed by the board and ap¬ pear elsewhere in this newspaper. The board next discussed delin¬ quent sewer and water bills with Mr. Caldwell. They talked about taking some of the higher bills Into court for collection. Mr. Caldwell exi^ained to Uie village board tfaat if they took these bills to court and won the case, the defendant would be forced to pay in addition to the amount of the bill, the cotirt costs and the Village Attorney fee. Plans were discussed on the new well. Contracts are signed and progress will soon begin on the construction work. Following this, the meeting was adjourned. Win At Belvidere Huntley Boys Members of the Huntley Chapter F.F.A. scored well at the Section Six Fair held in conjunction with the Boone Coimty Fair, Belvidere on August 6, 1969. The school's highlight came when the Huntley school dairy exhibit received the second place trophy, North Boone placed first, Hamp¬ shire, Third; Sycamore, 4th; Mar¬ engo, 5th; and Harvard, 6th. llie Beef Division showed Steve Nevel with 3 A's and 2 B's of which his Shorthorn steer placed Arst In the lightweight Shortborn class and first pair ^ Shorthora steers. Hal Shott and Randy Zimmerman each scored 3 B's with their SJborthOTns. Huntley Boys scored individually in the Dairy Division' with Alan Rath taking Grand Champicm Ayr¬ shire female with his Sr. Yearlmg and 2 A Rations. Ron Bottennan scored an A, Alan Hafferktimp scored 3 A's and 1 B, Fred Hotf- man had 3 A's and 2 B's, Ron Tin¬ berg had 2 A's and 3 B's, while Dennis Diedrick received 1 A and 4 B's. Glen Borhart received 1 A and IB in Dairy of wbich his A came in first place in the claas of Reg. Hostein Sr. Yrls. Bill Ruth scored 4th Best (A) Soybean exhibit in a dass of over 60 entries.
