USPS 580-360 THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 1989 VOLUME 29-NUMBER 23 EuntleB Jarmsik OFFICE PHONE 312-669-5621 SERVING THE PEOPLE OF HUNTLEY SINCE 1960 25c per copy .Planning Meeting Minutes Meet Huntley*s New Teachers The regular monthly meeting of the Huntley Planning Commission was called to order at 7:30 pm on August 14, 1989, by Chairman Wilmer Rohlwing. Those members of the board present were Darick Franzen, Robert Schachtner, Jack Daum, Paul Mercer and Ron Hahn. The minutes of the July 10, 1989 meeting were read. Mr. Daum moved to approve the minutes as read. Mr. Franzen seconded. Motion carried. The agenda was read. The first order of business was presented by Mike Grismer for his property along Myrtle Street. He presented a concept plan for four duplexes on four lots. Three lots are 90 feet and other lot is 131 feet, which allows for Village easement. All four buildings will be pretty uniform. He will be allowed the 90 foot frontage according to old ordinance. He is considering 1800 square foot units or 3600 square feet per building each with two-car garages per unit. Mr. Mercer moved to accept the conceptual plans presented by Mike Grismer for four duplexes on Myrtle Street. Mr. Daum seconded. Upon roll call there were six (6) ayes and no (0) nays, motion carried. The next order of business was presented by Mr. Terry Wessel of Stapleton Co. He is interested in purchasing the Garlieb property at 11902 North Street. He plans to use a portion for his business and rent out the rest. He has a plating solution company. No plating done on site, most of solution is food-grade. .A utter from Baxter & Woodman dated August 2, 1989 was read, copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A. Mr. Wessel said everything will be stored inside. All ordered in and stored in 65 gallon drums. He is buying both buildings. He has no other renter at this time. He does not see any future need for any toxic chemicals. It is a small business, maybe six employees at most. Mr. Wessel seeks a change in zoning from B-3 to M-1. He wants to add landscaping, no changes to building. Discussion over right-of-way to his building on North Street was held. The board decided it did not want to change the zoning for that area from business to manufacturing. They preferred to keep it as business zoning. Mr. Daum moved not in favor of changing B-3 zoning to M-1. Mr. Schachtner seconded. Upon roll call there were six (6) ayes and no (0) nays, motion carried. Mr. Mercer brought up problems with exits and entrances to Woodcreek subdivision. Traffic is bad, and will get worse. He suggested we find a way to Kreutzer Road. Fred Ahrens Celebrates 75th Fred Ahrens celebrates his 75th birthday with an open house on September 17, 1989 from 1:00-4:00 pm at the First Congregational Church in Huntley. JOE LINDQUIST The new High School Biology ii Earth Science teacher is also assistant high school football coach and assistant high school basketball coach. He lives in Huntley. JOANNE KOWALSKI The new 1st Grade teacher lives in Huntley with her husband and 2 sons. JULIE GEE The new Jr. High Special Education teacher is also the 6th grade girls volleyball coach. She lives in Elgin with her husband. STEPHEN STYERS The new High School math teacher lives in East Dundee with his wife and 2 children. Register to Vote On September 30th, a deputy registrar will be available at the Huntley American Legion from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The deputy registrar will be happy to assist those who have not yet registered to vote or those who have changed their name or address since their last time at the polls. Only those people who are properly registered at least 28 days prior to an election are eligible to vote in that election. County 4-H Youth Council Reorganizes The McHenry County 4-H Youth Council recently met to reorganize for the 1989-90 year. Officers elected were: Donna Heavey, chairperson, Huntley; Rick Rasmussen, vice-chairperson, Woodstock; and Dave Wilson, secretary, Marengo. Other members of the council are Gary Aavang and Lynda Markut of Woodstock, Max England and Meredith Harris of Gary, Laura Grossen from Marengo, Bonnie Kreh of Crystal Lake, and Ann Leonard of Zenda Wisconsin. The 4-H Youth Council provides counsel and guidance for the program and policy development of the 4-H Youth program in McHenry County. The 4-H program is a part of the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service. For more information on how to join 4-H or how to volunteer for 4-H pleae call the McHenry County Cooperative Extension Service at 815-338-4747. igk Annual \ak *\ Craft Fair'W The Women's Circle of the First Congregational Church of Huntley, will be holding their annual "Craft Fair" on Saturday, October 28th. Applications are being taken for space rental. All crafts must be handmades. Call Sue Frihart, 669-3235, or the church office, 669-3691.
