fhe Euntltp Jamsik USPS 580-360 THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26, 1989 VOLUME 29-NUMBER 30 OFFICE PHONE 812-669-5621 SERVING THE PEOPLE OF HUNTLEY SINCE 1960 Village Board Minutes The October 12, 1989 Regular Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held in the Board Room of the Village Hall and called to order at 8:00 P.M. by President Dhamer. Present were President Dhamer, Trustees Wicke, Hoeft, Borowicz, Gow and Russ with Trustee Greve being absent. Also present were , Village Attorney Kukla, Village Engineer Schwegel and Public Works Director Nimbar. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 14, 1989 were reviewed and there being no additions nor corrections. Trustee Hoeft made a motion to approve said minutes, seconded by Trustee Gow, and upon roll call, all trustees voted aye and the motion carried. Financial reports were next item for the Board to approve. As the Board reviewed the Treasurer's Report, it was brought to their attention that the Park and School donations should now be disbursed. Trustee Wicke made a motion to authorize the Clerk to issue payment to each entity in amounts as: Park $21,957.86 and School $21,588.01. Motion was seconded by Trustee Borowicz. Trustee Greve entered the meeting at this time. Roll call noted all ayes with the exception of Trustee Greve, who passed. In the same order of business. Trustee Wicke made a motion to accept the Treasurer's Report as submitted, seconded by Trustee Russ, and upon roll call, all ayes and motion carried. Next, the Trustees examined the bills due for payment. A motion was made by Trustee Russ, seconded by Trustee Gow, to authorize payment of same and upon roll call, all trustees voted aye, motion carried, and the Clerk was instructed to make payment and listing of same is attached hereto. The Seagren and Shales request for^H^t was subRiittecj^^H^KUstees: thereafter/^W^^orfT'^ *'**' made a motion to authorize Home State Bank to make payment as Payout #6, to Seagren and Shales in the amount of $112,024.00. Trustee Borowicz seconded and upon roll call, all ayes and Attorney Kukla was to forward authorization to the bank. President Dhamer then called Mr. George Athans of Sierra Petroleum to the Board table. He explained his project and asked the Board to approve his final plans for a convenience store and gas station on the East side of Route 47. Planning Commission had recommended to the Board for approval of the Final Plans of this project. Mr. Athans laid his plans before the trustees. Trustees questioned extensively requesting Village Engineer Schwegel's advice, as well as Attorney Kukla's. Mr. Athans was advised at length regarding the restriction as to connecting to the village sewer, which will not be able to connect before fall of 1990 when the treatment plant is on line. He questioned if it would make a difference if his sewer line was a private line or public. He was told the connecting time frame would be the same. The Trustees advised that they wanted him aware of this restriction so there would be no misunderstanding. Trustee Hoeft made a motion to accept the final plans with concrete approaches and sidewalks for gas station and convenience store only and that all requirements be met that the village engineers recommend. Seconded by Trustee Russ. Before the roll was taken. Trustee Greve reiterated as to the sewer permit from lEPA noting that a construct only permit could be had and would be needed before they began the sewer installation. Thereafter, roll noted: Borowicz, nay; Russ, aye; Hoeft, aye; Wicke, aye; Gow, aye and Greve, aye and motion carried. President Dhamer called for Public comments at this time, and there being none he went on to the next order of business. He called for approval of the Annual Audit for lSi^l9S9. Continued on page 16 Barnyard Zoo !|^ra£4rf' ''¦'¦•'\r ^'- / A On Wednesday, October 18, the FFA students held a barnyard zoo for the Huntley Elementary grades. The purpose of this was to instill appreciation for the farm animals. The Huntley FFA members provided animals of their own for this program. Some of the animals included...dogs, cats, geese, sheep, cattle, pig, calves and rabbits. We feel this program was a success. The members plan on continuing this program for the younger members of the Huntley community. (FFA reporter Christine Jilek) X-Raying Of Halloween Candy Saint Joseph Hospital will be offering free x-raying or floroscoping of Halloween candy to all area parents and their children. The service will be available during the evening hours on Halloween, Oct. 31, and from 1 to 4 p.m. the following day. The x-raying does not affect the candy and is completely safe. Candy should be brought to the Diagnostic Imaging Dept. located on the first floor of the hospital. Those using the service the evening of Halloween should use the patient entrance. For more information, contact the Community,Relations Dept. at (312)931-5510. Halloween at School Halloween means ghosts, goblins, trick-or-treating and parties! Students in grades K-5 will celebrate Halloween at school on Tuesday, October 31. A parade of costumes will be held in the gym from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Parents are invited to attend. Classroom parties will be held immediately after the parade. Students should bring their costumes to school in a bag, and may change into them just before the parade. Parents may be contacted by room mothers for some help in supplying party treats. A.M. kindergarten will celebrate that morning. Absentee Ballot McHenry County Electors expecting to be absent from the County for the November 7th, 1989 Non Partisan Election may now cast an absehtee,b«llot in the office 6f Rosemary Azzaro, County Clerk, according to an announcement from the Clerk's Office. The Clerk's Office is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Absentee applications in person can be accepted up to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6th, in the Clerk's Office. The last day to receive applications by mail is Thursday, Nov. 2nd. Applications for absentee voting may be obtained by calling 815-338-2074 or writing to the office of County Clerk, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098. 25c per copy Champions The Huntley Varsity Volleyball Team has again captured the title of conference champions. Good luck in the up¬ coming playoffs! Redsfcins Talce Another Victory The Redskins triumphed 22-7 against Hampshire Friday night in Huntley. In a full team effort, Huntley defeated Hampshire with their tough defense and effective offense. The victory brought Huntley's record to 4-4. The Redskin's chance at the playoffs balances on a win October 28 against Burlington Central. The games begin with the Freshman game at 11:00 followed by the Varsity contest played in Burlington. Craft Fair The First Congregational Church of Huntley will be sponsoring a Craft Fair on Saturday, October 28 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The church is located on the corner of Church St. and Main St. in downtown Huntley. A huge variety of crafts will be displayed and you can enjoy homemade soup and a salad bar or hot dogs for lunch. Fresh baked donuts will be served to early shoppers. Door prizes will be drawn regularly, prizes will be selected from donations made by the various crafters.
