Village Board Lessons Start
4 Car Accident North of Huntley - 7 Hurt
The regular monthly meeting of the Huntley Village Board was held last Thursday, July 1, with all members present.
After the preliminary reading of the minutes, treasurer's r^ort and bills, the board authorised a $25.00 per month wage increase for Pol¬ ice Chief Richard and Supt. of Str¬ eets Percy Swanson.
The village enfllneering firm of Baxter and Woodman was repre¬ sented at this meeting, presenting a plan to install a storm tile along Route 47 at 4th Street. It was men¬ tioned that in the Spring of the year this land is flooded and over¬ flows the highway and adjacent lots. The ViUage Board, however, tabled the proposal for further study, inasmuch as the plan pro¬ posed by Baxter and Woodiman would ooat approximately $1/1,000.
The Annual Appropriation Ordin¬ ance and Treasurer's Reports were presented to the Board by Account¬ ant Harry Burnk. The Board ap¬ proved the Approprlaion Ordin¬ ance and Treasurer's Report which Is published elsewhere in this newspaper.

Swimming classes started at Grafton Park Beach on Tuesday, July 6. Huntley, although officially disoonected from the beach, is In¬ cluded in the swimming program as the eaxes for this year have been paid by the citizens of thic area and are being used for thJs.program.
The Huntley Board off Eduoation has estab4iehed bus transportation for the youngsters participating in the swimming pronram. The buasM leave Huntley at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30, 'shuttling the children to and from the beach.
The park program ia manned by qualified Red Cross inatructors. On the first day of lessons all the child¬ ren were lined up immediately after the busses arrived. Park Man¬ ager, Robert Seavers, read the nam¬ es of those children present, indic¬ ating which class they were in and who their instructor was for that class. The instructor took the names of each of the studenita in the class. He then counted those pre¬ sent In case some child should be missing at the end of the class.
Following the perliminary intro¬ duction each of the instructors con¬ ducted an exercise period to lim¬ ber up the children before the act¬ ual swimming part of the class.
The majority of students partic¬ ipating in the arwimming program this yaar are from the Hontlty area <No figures are available at the pre¬ sent time as to how many are par¬ ticipation in this program.

A four car accident occured nor¬ th of Huntley on Route 47 between the Mike Kiley and Martin Heinz residents lest Sunday, July 4, at approximately 10:30 A.M.
According to McHenry County Sherriff's police, seven people were injured in the crash including Kane County assistant state's at¬ torney Berry E. Puklin. '
According to Huntley Police, the accident occured when a car driven by Dean Tripp, 17, of Dundee, went out of control in tiie south bound lane, veering into a' car dri¬ ven by Andrew Seedjo of Chicago. The Tripp car than skidded 90 feet into a car driven by Jack Erickson of St. Charles. Erickson told Hunt¬ ley police that he tried to avoid the accident by pulling: oflf the road. The Tripp car than continued skid¬ ding until it struck the Puklin car throughing it into the ditch on the west side of Route 47. The Tripp car ended up in the ditch on the east side of the road facing north. Huntley police stated the the Puk¬ lin car skidded ^proximate 40 feet trying to avoir the accident. They also stated that the Puklin's had and were using safety lielts in their car at the time of the accident.
Puklin received a broken arm and laceration to his face and body. His wife. Sheila and an daughter,
Lee Leslie, 1, received cuts on the¬ ir face. They, and Barbara Web¬ ster of St. Charles were, taken to Sherman Hospital by the James O'Connor Ambulance Service of Huntley.
...Tripp, Donald Smith and Mark Abbamonte, of Dundee, passengers in the Tripp car were taken to the Woodstock Memorial Hospital by the Querhammer Aiiibulance Ser¬ vice of Crystal Lake.
Ericksan ..and ..Seejo ..were ..not hurt in the accident. ...A ticket was issued to Tripp for failure to have his car under con¬ trol.
