Tf^^the talk around Huntley, thanlBto Timer Baldey and a hundred or so others who turned out to help with this project last Saturday, ^ , ^ $1580 in oneday^' That was approximately the cost that a professional tree cutter would have charged to remove these trees. It^^A a quote made to the ccmeter^^oard last Thurs¬ day night. The man said he could do tbe job in a month. From 8:30 in the morning until worked straight through with one break for coffee in the morning. The ladies of the Congregational and Lutheran church served cof¬ fee and rolls in the morniing and the Lutheran ladies served coffee and sandwiches iin the afternoon. Right now the cemetery looks probably much as Gettysburg look ed after the bigbattle. There is not a tree standing in the cemetery property, only sb( remain at the far side in a vacant field south of the cemetery. Yes, as the skeptics said, there was some damage a few tomb¬ stones toppled over. However J, S, Warner & Sons, Inc. Granite Memoriails, at 107-111 Water St, in Dundee, wiill come out and put them up free of charge. The electric company had two breaks in electrical wiring which were fixed free of charge by the Public Service Company. The telephone cables whiich pre- \ iusly been dropped to avoid any breakage by fallen trees did get chewed up. The Illinois Bell Telephone Com¬ pany had to replace 50 feet of cable which they did at their own expense. From 8 30 until 6 o'clock at nite there was a constant roar of the motors of the many chaiin saws donated my the people from Himt¬ ley area. The group started at the south end of the cemetery proi)er ty and worked the line of trees on the west side of the cemetery. There were two, sometimies three or more, teams working at one time. Shortly after work commen¬ ced Mr. Mike of Kiley's Cities Service came down with his tow truck and attached the cable to each tree makiing sure that it was pulled in the right direction so that damage could he kept to a mini¬ mum.
