The building, recently occMBd by Coil.<, Inc., is being rermjoeied at the present time-. Tho inside has been re-dine with wood panelling and the ceiling has been lowered adding acoustical tile. No details are available at this time on what the ejctexior.of the building will look like or whom or what will oc- cuijy it. The Fannside wil! publish this information as soon as it is re¬ leased. The building is located between the State Bank of Huntley and Hansen's Heating and Plumbing business. As far as we can ascer- tiin the building was originally erected in' Jolm Pabst as a saloon and was operated by his son as such until prohibition. During the 20's we are told it was used as a "speakeasy" or something in tliat field. With the legalization of licjuor in the 30's the building was then again operated as a tavern hy .lolr.i .Schliipp. later it was known as Parkside Ta\ern and operated by Leon and Helen Olhaber from 1943 until 19."i3. During a short interim in the 1950's it was oc¬ cupied and known as the Huntley Dr\ Goods store and other busi- nesaifs. From 19.58 until 1961 it stood \acant. The most recent ten¬ ant was Coils, Inc. an electrical coil business which moved their plant recently into tho new quarters they bujlt on Algonquin Road. (iary Korhart Top 4-H Dairy Cattle (iary Borhart, son of Mr. & Mrs. Delwin Borhart, took lop honors at the Illinois State Fair, Monday, August 12, when he won first place in the 1963 State 4-H Dairy Cattle Jud|;in«: finals. There were forty four 411 members in the finals held at fhe state fair grounds. Two other Huntley youths were also in the forty four state finalists. Tliey were Larry Johnson and Mary Palmer. Gary, Larry, and Mary won a plaee on the McHenry County team, whleh enabled them to complete at the University of Illinois. All three qualified for the finals at Sprlnf^leld uith only forty four contestants left from the many, many thousands of the 4-H members in the state. (iary ri^ceived notice of his winning from the University of Illinois through Prof. Jerry Cash. Prof. Cash will coach Gary and three other team members during the week of August 26 in Judging dairy cattle throughout the state. Gary and his three team mebers will represftnt the state of Illinois in national competition at the National Dairy Congress, Waterloo, Iowa, dur¬ ing the week of Sept. 25 to Oct. 1. New Teachers ^** Foothall Game Friday Sept 13 At School The Board of Education of Hunt- Icy Consolidated School has ap¬ proved contracts for five new teachers joining the staff when s'bool opens .September 3. Mrs. Hazel Merchant, who will feac'.i a third grade, received her Master's Degi-ee from Iowa State University and has taught for the past 10 years in the Woodstock rchocl sNstem. She, her husband, and snn reside in Woodstock. Mrs. Donna Freter. a graduate of Ncrihern Illinois University at Hf Kalb, will teach a fourth grade, Mr. and Mrs. Freter live in Genoa, where Mrs. Freter has taught the past two years. Mrs. Gloria Korrison of 146 East Main. Huntlej- is the new Junior High Science teacher. She holds a degree from Whitewater Teachers College, and her husband teaches at Hampshire. The Korrisons have two children. In the High School will be Mr. Ronald Gawlik, teachfc: \English and History, Mr, Gawl^P^eceived his degree from Shimer Colege at Mt. Carroll, and is doing graduate vObrlr-at*ffertttfertt,'We-ts"fhilTteJ,- and his wife teaches at Hinsdale, Mr. Ross Phifer will^-nch high school mathematics. H^ ja June graduate from Northern' Illinois University, aind Mrs, Phifer is a student thore. majoring in Home Economics, The Phifcrs will live in DeKalb, Pictures of all the new teachers are not available at this time. They will appear in ne.xt week's edition of the Farmside, Police Report On Sunday, August 2r>, at about 1:30 p.m. it was rei)orted that two m'>n followed a citizen from the junction of Route 176 on Route 47 to Huntle.N' at a terrific speed. The men who wore driving a white car made several attempts to force this per.son off the road into tho ditch. The citizen who reported the in¬ cident declined to give his name for fear of reprisals. He stated that he circled east from Church Street back to the blacktop and came back into town and at that point the men left going east on the Al¬ gonquin blacktop. Huntley police are working on leads. Heart Assoc. To Meet At Dinner The McHenry Co. Heart Unit of the Illinois Heart Association an¬ nounced today that they will hold their annual dinner meeting on Thursday evening, September 5, at the Huntley American Legion Home at 7 p.m. Mrs. Edwin Eells, chairman of the Illinois Heart Association's Committee on Program, will be the guest speaker and wil discuss the program for Heart Units. A total of 25 boys turned out for football at the Huntley Commimity High School. Pictured on this page are scenes of the boys working wiith dummies on blocking. Coach Barry anticipates a better year for Huntley this season. The first football game will be held on Friday, September IS, when Huntley will play Richmond here. A complete schedule of the 196S garnm season will appear before the first game.
