Local Boy Killed
Raymond Allen Conley, 13, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Conley of rural Huntley, was killed Saturday, June 15, when the bicycle he was riding^was struck by a car driven by I^Bpth Bright of Carpentersville. ^Blng Conley was riding in a southerly direction on route 47 when at 3:05 p.m. the Bright car went out of control on the hill immediately north of the Conley home.
The Bright car, from the point cdwhere it went ouj^fccontrol to its final resting plac^Waviled 443 feet. It hit Ray on his bicycle at 250 feet and carried the bike 156 feel before throwing the l)oy over a telephone wire approximately 100 feet into the adjancent field.
After striking the boy the car knocked ovor a 6 x 6 post and spun around ending its spin in a culvert. Mr. Conley witnessed the accident.
Bright was removed to Wood¬ .stock Hospital.
According to Sherriff's police a warrant has been issued to Bright for rccless homicide, a ticket for opoi'alion a motor vehicle without a valid liconse and other violations.
The penalty for rocless homicide is a fine of $100. to $1000. or 60 days to 6 months in the county jail or both, or a pententiary sent¬ ence of from one to five years.

Grand Opening
Parkside Tap is holding their Grand Opening tonight, Thursday, June 20th.
Since May 1, when Leon Olhab¬ er sold the tavern business after 20 years of business in the com¬ munity, Pat, Lon and Bernice Wirsing have been operating the lavern. The interior has been com¬ pletely redecorated including dim¬ mers on the lights. The outside also has a new look with neon lights circling the entire top of the building.
In addition to llie new look in Iho decor of the buiding the Wirs- ings arc featuring mi.xed drinks in the evening. They hope to see you all tonight to help celebrate their grand opening.
School Board
Notes
The School Board of Huntley Consolidated School met Friday, June 14th at T p.m. for Its reg¬ ular monthly meeting. All mem¬ bers were present except Robert Schultz. Minutes of the last meet¬ ing were read and approved.
Permission was granted to Illi¬ nois Bell Telephone Company to use the gymnaium on October 8, 163 to put on an exhibit.
The Board approved the hiring of Ross S. Phifer of Hinsdale, 111., to teach nvathematics and to do Guidance work. Mrs. Emil Movers was offered a contract for next year as cafeteria manager. A vote of appreciation was given by the Board for the excellent job she has done.
The school has purchased some new tyi)ewritcrs. As has been done in the past, as a courtesy to the public, these typewriters arc of¬ fered for sale at the trade-in price on a first come, first served basis. Anyone interested should contact the school as 669-2091 by June 28, 163. Three machines are Under¬ woods and one is a Royal.
Departmental budgets were re¬ viewed and approved.
Permission was granted tho F.F.A. to have a Donkey Basket¬ ball gabe on Saturday, July 13th. A request ito use both bleachers was granted.

Bank Ann.
The State Bank of Huntley is celebrating its SOth anniversary the week of June 24th through the 29th. Although there has been a bank in Huntley since 1896, the Huntley bank was not chartered by the State until 1913. Everyone is invited to help celebrate this golden anniversary. Favors will be given to all during this weeks as well as a door prize of one-half steer to be given to a luckky reg¬ istrant. If you are not already a customer, it will be a wonderful opportunity for you to get ac¬ quainted with some of fhe direc¬ tors and personnel and also view the banking facilities that we have to offer.

Pictured above is Richard Nel¬ son, Huntley"s new Chief of Police. He took over the position last Saturday, June 15. Nelson is a native of Estlllne, South Dako¬ ta, has been on the Chicago Police Force for over 30 years during which time he has done many types of police work.
In an interview with him he stated that he is a public servant not trying to run things but just being a help. He wants to give the people of Huntley the type of poltice protection they deserve and asks any groups or organiza¬ tions to call him when they need assistance in handling traffic or other police matters.
Chief Nelson stated that ho does not believe in a contract. He said that the village should not have to go into a contract with a man they know little about who could turn out not to be efficient.

Electric System Damaged
The electricty went out all over Huntley last Sunday at approxi¬ mately 7:45 p.m. and remained off for an hour and a half.
The cause for the power failure, according to the Public Service Co, was that one of the wires had been shop off at tlie sub-station.
When the wire fell it set fire to a tree (originally many people thought the tree to be the cause of the failure) and the Huntley Fire Dept. was called.
Huntley police are investigating the shooting of the power line.
