Little League Banquet
Huntley's little leaguers hfld held their second annual little league banquet last Saturday, August 2.5, at the American Leg¬ ion Mall. Approximately ^2 'ittlc leaguers and 11 teener leaguers were guests of the American Leg¬ ion and the Huntloy Lion's Club. The Lions Club paid for the teen¬ er league and the American Leg¬ ion paid for the little leaguers. Ap¬ proximately 105 adults attended this affair.
The guest speal^cr of the even¬ ing was Bob Wills, an outfielder with the Chicago Cubs. Mr. Wills told of many of his experiences in the game of baseball. He said he started playing baseball when he was five years old and played ball through high school and college. At the age of 22 he had an oppor¬ tunity to join a professional ball team. He has been with the Cubs for the past six years in their major league ball team and in their farm teams. He compliment¬ ed the managers Dot^|ristrom and Dick Swanson for flBfine worl< they were doing to snow the boys teamwork and sportsmanshio - to show them the. importance of htntling'Ottt to the field &nd be¬ ing to places on time. New Teachers For Huntley
When Huntley Con.solidated School students return to their classrooms on September 4, there will be several new teachers to great them.
Replacing M. E. Gahan as Sup¬ erintendent is Thomas Kelly. Mr. Kelly received his B.S. ^gree from Milton College; Hts M. S. from Colorado State; and has done advanced work in administration at Michigan State and Northern Illinois University. Mr. Kelly, his wife and two children are residing in the Brill home on Main Street, and previously lived in Forrest, Illinois, where Mr. Kelly servea as Superintendent for three .years.
As head Coach and P. E. in¬ structor will be Homer Barry. Mr. Barry is a graduate of Illinois Normal University and has coach- CONTINUED ON PAGE FIVE
2 Fires on Tues.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, August 28, fire¬ man were called to the Harvey Linnenkahl farm on east Union Rd., northeast of Huntley. Lee Linnenkahl, a Huntley High school student had been grinding feed for the cattle and had turned the tractor off for a while. Upon start¬ ing it again it burst into flames. (Presmably from a spark which ignited gasoline which had leaked from the tank when the tractor was idel). Wayne Sherwin a neigh¬ bor arrived on the .scene and re¬ moved the bit from the grinder, released the brakes, permitting the tractor to roll away from the barn, and finally towed the tractor fur¬ ther away from the barn with his own tractor. The barn had ap¬ proximately 5,000 bales of hay stored in its loft at the time of the fire. Mr. Linnenkahl was m CONTINUED ON PAGE FIVE
2ND FIRE
Huntley firemen were called out for a second time on Tuesday, August 28. This time they wont to fhe Norm Moller farm on Ceme¬ tary Road. A Shed containing a Manure spreader and baled straw w^ bumiiKo -.., , -...^ ¦
Firemen battled the blaze from 7 until 9 P.M. before the fire was extinguished. They then returned in an hour to check that all of the ..embers of tho straw and shed had gone out.
The shed was a total loss, all of Huntley's fire equipment plus the Dean's bulk tonks were used to battle the fire. The Dean's bulk tanks hauled a total of six loads of water.
No extimate of the damage has as yet been derived. There also has been no definite reason for the fire.
Coming Event
The Huntley American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will hold a flag dedication at Graf¬ ton township Legion post. The American flag is a symbol of our American freedom.
Commander Stanley Koch and F>resident Mabel Schultz hope that it will fly quite produly through the coming years.

The Huntley Community Serv¬ ice Group will hold its first annual meeting of this fiscal year this Wednesday, September 5, at the American Legion Hall at 8 p.m.
This meeting will be devoted to making final plans for the com¬ munity party to be held Saturday, September 8. There will also be an election of officers at this mret- ing for the coming year. Represen¬ tatives of the various groups l)e- longing to the Community .Ser\icc Group are urged to come.
Mrs. Donald Banett and Mrs. William Palmer are co chairmen of the community party this year and urge everyone to come and bring a guest - one of your new neighbors, perhaps. There vv ill bo music and dancing as well ns square dancing. Retreshmcnts will be served. The gentlemen are a<ik- ed to bring $.50 to be u.scd in get¬ ting the proposed library district onto the ballot. Ladies arc asked to bring n dozen cookies Ui help with the refreshments. Th"ro will be booths from the boy scouts, cub scouts, and many of the other serv¬ ice groups and industries from the area.
Mrs. Izard Wins
Mrs. Arthur Izard of Huntley, last week won third and fourth place in the novice division of the Bonsai Exhibit held at the D. HUl Nursery in Dundee. She received a third place ribl)on for her Mugho Pine and fourth for her Cotones- ter.
The judges for the show were Mr. Kaneji Domoto, New Rochelle N.Y., Mrs. Allan Marshall Jones. Hinsdale, Illinois; Mr. Walter Eickhorst, Morton Arl>oretuih, Lisle, Illinois; Prof, John Kienitz, University of Wiscorjsin, and Mrs. Martha Hart Madison, Wisconsin.
Lions Club

The Huntley Lion's Club held its annual corn boil and picnic last Sunday, August 26, at the Bud Webber home. Approximately 20 Lions and Lionesses attended this affair. Each Lion brought his own steaks. The corn was furnished by Lion Bankes of Clanyard Farms.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kelly, the new superintendent of .schools and his wife, were guests of the Lions Club. The afternoon was spent playing horse shoes, cards, and with general visiting. Lions Chesak and Meyer were the champion horse shoe players. A time was enjoyed by all.

On Sunday, August 26 the em- pltiyecs of the Huntley Dean's Milk Co. held their annual sum¬ mer picnic at the American Lerion Hall in MarcMro, Illinois. Approxi¬ mately 60 ^Bple attended this affair. ^P^
This is one of two affairs put on by the employees of Huntley's Dean's Milk Co. The second is a dinner-dance some time in winter. The Deans' employees put aside a dollar a month towards this rec¬ reational fund.
Volley Ball, horse shoes, card.^, and other games were played at the picnic. A delicious beef and ham dinner was served.
New Boxes For Post Office
Pictured at>ove ace Postmaster Richard Mickelson and Carl Wal4y next to 81 post offices boxes to be installed in the Huntley post office. At the present time there are 354 Iwxes. The new boxes make a total of 437 boxes.
For some time now there has been a waiting list of people want¬ ing to have t>oxes in the Huntley Post Office. Postmaster Mickelson feels that this will relieve the box shortage for some time.
