Ribbon-Cuttings Higlilight Homestead Day By Cathy DeQuaker The Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry would like to thank all those who participated in Huntley Homestead Days held last Saturday. The event brought in crafters from the surrounding areas and featured sidewalk sales from Huntley Country Store and Ace Hardware. Visitors strolled the Huntley Center and the Town Square shopping for items such as grapevine wreaths, Christmas ornaments, wooden birdhouses, t-shirts and more. Chamber members, Genoa Pizza and Subway took advantage of their member benefit to have a special ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of their new businesses. Ribbon-cutting ceremonies were held for the two businesses on Route 47 located in the Huntley Court. Mayor Dhamer cut the ribbons welcoming the new businesses along with chamber board members including vice president, Pat Bieszki, secretary, Bernice Bakley, New Bank Breaks Ground Awe presents Genoa Pizza owner, Carol Frederick, with a Huntley chamber certificate of membership at Saturday's ribbon-cutting ceremony. and directors, Steve DeQuaker, Kevin Daleiden, Tricia Clancy, Leland Brasile and Dr. William Awe. Dave Corzine, former Chicago Bulls player was also part of the Genoa Pizza ceremony. Genoa Pizza, located at the Huntley Court on Route 47, will be offering raffle prizes to celebrate their ,»,.,,, continued on page.!; By Tracey Schwartz First National Bank of Marengo teoke ground in Huntley last week with local officials and community lejxesentatives in attendance. Village president, Jim Dhamer, and bank president and chief executive officer, Carole J. Bartman, (above) ceremoniously scooped up dirt with a golden shovel at the future site of the bank's new facility on Route 47, just north of Dean Street, on the east side of the highway. Along with Bartman, architects Pat Magner and Rey Manalang of Magner and Manalang Architects, in Oak Park, showed plans for the facility to Dhamer; Huntley Zoning Board chairman. Jack Tures; and Village of Huntley administrator, Rob Nelis. The architectural firm will also manage the construction of the full-service banking facility. According to Magner, the bank chose them to act as general contractor in order to give all their banking customers who work in the trades an opportunity to bid on the project. Magner said they plan to pour the foundation this week and they hope to open for business in mid-March. Bakley Construction excavated the property. First National Bank officials on hand were chairman of the board, Helen Lindow; vice- president and cashier, Gary Leifhart; board directors, Mildred M. Ruth and Alice B. Mijanovich, M.D.; and the bank's founder and legal counsel, Herbert H. Franks. Others attending were Village of Huntley trustee, Dennis Shamhart; Margie and Harry Hughes, representing the Roy Hughes estate; Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry executive director, Cathy DeQuaker; local c(Mitract(H;Ken Bakley; and local me(^. Following the ground¬ breaking last Thursday, attendees enjoyed bniirch at Bill's Village Inn in Huntley. The First National Bank of Marengo is headquartered at 102 N. State St. in Marengo. The bank also cerates the Lake-in-the-Hills Bank, and a drive-through facility in Marengo.
