School Year Kick-Off Activities

In most school districts change evolves. In School disuict 158 it races forward. However, a few tilings are unchanged. For example, die Centi-al Office, Transportation Office and Preschool Program are in die same location widi the same staff, except for a few new bus drivers. Beside diat, almost everydiing else has changed in some way. But, I'm glad to report that most of the changes are exactiy as planned. This will be anodier exciting year. Following are a few of the changes.
We will begin die school year with more dian a fifdi of the certified
employees new to the school district, including a new elementary
principal.
More than 125 certified employees will be employed or services
contracted du-ough SEDOM to provide professional services.
Nearly half of die certified staff are nontenure (1st or 2nd year in
district).
The offices of Karen Wickline, Curriculum Director and Gifted
Coordinator, and Debra Ruben, Technology Coordinator, have been
relocated to the new school.
Enrollment is expected to increase by nearly 25% more in K-5,10%
more in 6-8 and 20% more in grades 9-12.
Board meetings will be conducted in die library at die new school.
Group medical benefits will be provided by WISBA effective
September 1, 1997.
More than $500,000 has been spent on technology and a computer
technician hired to service the equipment.
All computers on the local area networks (LAN) have access to the
internet.
The Hunfley Park Distiict will be housing child care services in
Soufli Grade School.
SEDOM will be housing two classes in the west mobile classroom
building in die courtyard at South Grade School.
The library has been removed from die cafeteria at south Grade
School.
A library and computer lab have been installed at South Grade
School.
Security keypads have been installed at all schools and all outside
locks changed.
Outsourced cleaning services have been expanded to include general
daily cleaning of die new Middle/High School.
District 158 Board of Education Hosts Open House
Greetings from the Board of Education and employees of School District 158. Widi die opening of the new secondary school on Harmony Road, this is an especially exciting year. Thanks to all those people who made it happen. And a special thanks to the voters who made it possible. We, die elected and appointed school officials, pledge ourselves to be good stewards of the public trust. But we cannot do it alone. We must all join forces in keeping the facility the beautiful and functional resource it is today. Your cooperation will be much appreciated.

Huntley School Athletic Boosters
The first home football game will be held at Lindsey Field in town on September 12, and die first home volleyball game will be September 16 at the new High School gym. Come out and support our volleyball and football player.
The Huntiey Athletic Boosters met on September 3 and have planned many new activities for the support of the Hunfley student athletes.   In order to make this

On Sunday, Sept 7, the Board of Education of Consolidated School District 158 hosted an Open House and Dedication Ceremony for the new Huntley Middle School and Huntley High School - Harmony Road Campus Facilities (pictured above).
