LEAC II sold out its 1,000 tickets for this fundraising event and made close to $10,000 from the silent and live auctions. In total an estimated $35,000 was raised from the event to pay for expert witnesses to testify at the landfill hearings taking place this week and next at LITH Airport at 8407 Pyott Road. The LITH Village Board is holding the hearings to decide if a 113 acre balefill will be sited by Material Recovery Corporation on property two miles north of Huntley on Rt. 47. The hearings are open to the public and LEAC II Chairman Richard Hansen, Huntley, will be cross examining witnesses during the proceedings. PTO Hosts Huge Garage Sale Huntley's PTO is hosting the biggest and best garage sale ever! Hundreds of items will be on sale: clothes, bicycles, furniture, books, toys, games... Start your Christmas shopping early. Choose from new and exciting craft items. Shop for Avon, Shaklee, Discovery Toys, or Home Interiors. Come for breakfast - stay for lunch. It's Huntley Grade School's first annual flea market on Saturday, September 19 on the grade school grounds from 8:30am to 3;00pm. A few spaces are still available, call Kim Skaja at 669-1871 for more information.. , , ..... LEAC II To Have Bootli At PTO Garage Sale LEAC II (Landfill Emergency Action Committee II) will have a booth at the PTO garage sale on Saturday, Sept. 19. If you would like to donate any items, please bring them to the front entrance of the elementary school on Friday, Sept. 18, between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. If you can volunteer some time to help on Friday or Saturday, please contact Sue Hansen at 669-1236. We can beat this landfill! Hearings are going on daily at LITH airport hanger, from 9:00am-5:00pm. Money raised from the garage sale will help pay for our legal experts. Concerned citizens from Huntley, Lakewood and LITH placed bids in the silent auction last Sunday which helped raise close to $10,000 toward LEAC ll's case against Material Recovery Corporation's proposed balefill to be sited two miles north of Huntley on Rt. 47. A sign on the west side of Rt. 47 marks the spot for the balefill to demonstrate just how close to Huntley this balefill will be. Allan Hamilton, LEAC II Steering Committee, hosted last Sunday's Steer Roast & Auction at his place, Hamilton Farms, on Conley Road north of Huntley. Mobile entertainment service "39 & Holding" were among the many contributors who donated their services for the LEAC II Steer Roast & Auction last Sunday to raise funds for expert testimony to be included in the LITH landfill hearings starting at 9am every day this week and next in the LITH airport.
