Seniors Motor To Grand Ole Opry

On Thursday, October 3rd, 27 Huntley Seniors joined 12 more from Madison, Wisconsin and motored to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry.
Our first night was spent at the Holiday Inn at Louisville, Kentucky. After a hearty breakfast and a brief stop at Al's favorite place, the Jim Beam Distillery, the motorcoach left for Music City. A city tour of Nashville, and the homes of the "stars", we stopped at the Rymans Auditorium and pretended we were the stars. On Friday night the Grand Ole Opry and Don's favorite (Granpa Jones) was enjoyed. After a quick sleep Friday night a Saturday morning tour of Country Music Hall of Fame, we traveled to Opryland, U.S.A.
The highlight of our 4 day trip was the Louise Mandrell show, and thanks to May Chesak and Emerson Fell special seating was enjoyed (4th row center stage). This spectacular show was titled "Love My Country", and featured some of the most talented musicians in Nashville.
After a hearty dinner and some light refreshments the group settled in for an early morning trip home.
Alice and Al Jordi would like to thank the 27 members of the Senior Citisens Club that made the trip to Nashville such a rewarding experience. Your cooperation made our first four day trip one to be remembered for a long time.

Huntley 4-H Window Ties For 1st Place!
In celebration of National 4-H Week, thirteen 4-H clubs in McHenry County put up promotional displays in area business and school windows. The Huntley Harvestors window display tied for First Place with South Dunham. Third
place went to Busy Beavers. These clubs receive $20, $20, and $10 cash awards, respectively, sponsored by the McHenry County 4-H Youth Foundation. Huntley's window display is located in the Huntley Grade School.

Varsity, JV Redskins On A Roll!

Wesemann Wins 4-H Trip
Huntley Redskins varsity football team msuie an impressive comeback since their dismal effort against North Shore Country Day. The Redskins dominated at all times against Mooseheart High School last Friday. The final score was 36-6.
Huntley showed they were the better team on the open¬ ing kickoff. After Mooseheart fumbled the ball on the ball attempted return, Huntley recovered on Mooseheart's 31 yard line. Although the Redskins did not score (they drove to the four yard line), the recovery did set the tone for the Redskins' offense.
Mooseheart attempted to retaliate with a long drive to Huntley's 2 yard line, but they, too, were denied a score.
The game remained scoreless until 1:02 left in the first half. Huntley scored a touch¬ down and completed the two point conversion. With just a
minute left in the first half, the Redskins led 8-0.
Mooseheart had very little time to score before the end of the half, and they succeeded in scoring in 33 seconds. They failed at the conversion, so Huntley led at half time 8-6.
Only 2:08 into the second half, Huntley had scored two more touchdowns to prove they were the dominant team.
Although Huntley's quarter¬ back, junior Derek Brettman, threw 0 for 6 with one interception, his handoff to the rushers racked up 382 yards.
Senior Lane Linnenkohl ran 14 times for 118 yards while junior Christ Felde led the way with 127 yards on 4 carries. Juniors Nick Hunter and Sean Faworski assisted the rushers with 85 yards and 50 yards respectively.
Assisting the rushing offense were the fumble
recovery by Faworski and senior P.J. Repmann. Scorers were Linnenkohl with 12, Felde and junior Tim Lombard with 8 points each. Hunter with 6, and Faworski with two points.
Leading the defense were junior Robert Selling, with a total of 24 tackles, Lombard with 17 tackles and junior Todd Harris with 13 tackles.
The junior varsity football team played the Williams Bay Bulldogs on Columbus Day. In an explosive game on both ends, the Redskins came out on top with a final score of 23-14. It was by far the best game of the junior varsity's season.
The varsity Redskins will play at home this Friday. It is Senior Day and all senior players, cheerleaders, and pom-pom girls will be honored. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Brian Wesemann, a ten year member of the Huntley Harvestors 4-H Club, was one of seven Illinois winners of a trip to the National 4-H Dairy Conference in Madison, Wis. Sept. 29-Oct. 2. The award was betsed on Brian's work in the dairy project area, as well as his leadership and citizenship activities related to dairy. Brian is the seventeen year old son of Randy and Janet Wesemann of Huntley.
The purpose of the award trip was to help the dairy industry meet the develop¬ mental needs of youth today. In addition, the trip helps provide an understanding of the production, processing, marketing and use of dairy products. Participants also receive a greater under¬ standing of the careers available in the dairy industry.

LITH Meeting Cancelled -^—
Lake-in-the-Hills has cancelled their next meeting which was originally scheduled for October 24. It concerns the proposed annexation/garbage dump on Route 47 north of Huntley. You will be informed of the next scheduled meeting.
