LITH Votes Down Proposed Balefill Site On Rt. 47
After five weeks of public hearings in Lake-In-The-Hills and over 30 days of deliberations, the LITH Village Board unanimously voted down the proposed balefill site by Material Recovery Corp. Tuesday
night. The proposed balefill was to be sited on property owned by the Veugler family on Rt. 47 just two miles north of Huntley.
The villages of Huntley and Lakewood and the Landfill Emergency Action Committee II
(LEAC II) had joined forces in an effort to prevent a balefill being sited so close to Huntley and directly over a water table hooked into Huntley's public water supply.
Congregational Church Sponors Pioneer Center Wishlist
Christmas gifts for 112 clients of Pioneer Center were delivered last week with the help of these elves. Pictured here are Jacob Boston, Nicole and Trevor Wright, all from the Congregational Church of Huntley, which sponsored the gift-giving project. Wishlists became reality; packaged and wrapped up with bows. Thank you to all who so generously contributed.
Harvestors Bring Cookies, Carols To Seniors
Huntley Harvestors 4-H Club gathered at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, Dec. 12, for their cookies and carols walk to GreenTrees apartments. While everyone assembled, the snowman in front of the church's Fellowship Hall was built. They took cookies they had baked to the residents of GreenTrees, caroling as they walked. Many Huntley citizens were pleasantly entertained along the way.
