Prize Winning Heifers Head For Egypt
Board of Education Meets
Nate Fruin proudly displays his Twin Dairy Heifers "Milly (left) and Molly (right)". They received 1st in Produce of Dam in Open Class Competition and 2nd in the same category in Jr. Open Class. They have been purchased to export to a dairy operation in Cairo, Egypt.
Riedl's Heifer Wins Big At McHenry County Fair
April Riedl's heifer was a winner across the board. In the 4-H Dairy competition she took Grand Champion Female Over All Breeds, Champion R&W Holstein & Best Uddered Female, Sr. Showmanship Champion, 1st Place Cows 4 years & older. Spring Heifer, blue, and Senior Champion for high production of milk at the fair, (milk production sold to Dean Foods at auction for $720.00 for 83#). In the Jr. Open Show Riedl's heifer won Spring Heifer Calf, blue, Cows 4 years & older, blue 1st, Senior Champion, Supreme Champion over all Breeds. Finally in the Open Show she received Spring Heifer, blue. Cow 4 years & older, blue 1st, Senior Champion, Supreme Champion over all Breeds.
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Consolidated Schools, Huntley, II. was held in the Central Office Building on June 20, 1991 at 7:S5pni.
The meeting was called to order by the President at 7:40pm. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Ms. Ahrens, Mrs. McDonald, Mr. Greve, Mr. Heavey. Absent: Mr. Crabill, Mr. Bauman, Mr. Freeberg. All present joined in the pledge to the flag.
1. Ms. Ahrens moved, Mr. Greve 2nd, to approve the minutes of the May 16 regular meeting as written. 4 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
2. Mr. Greve moved, Mrs. McDonald 2nd, to approve the minutes of the May 16 executive session. 4 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
Mr. Freeberg entered the meeting at 7:45pm.
3. Mr. Freeberg moved, Mr. Heavey 2nd, to accept the low quotation of Removers of Asbestos Material, Inc., Algonquin, for $3,297.00 to provide asbestos O&M repair work at the grade school. Yeas: Freeberg, Heavey, McDonald, Ahrens, Greve; Nays: None. 5 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
4v Mr. Freeberg moved, Mr. Greve 2nd, to accept the low bid of $.1169 per 1/2 pint for 2% milk, $.1247 per 1/2 pint for 2% chocolate, and $.1207 for 1% chocolate, from Cary ' Dairy. Yeas: Freeberg, Greve, Heavey, Ahrens, McDonald; Nays: None. 5 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
5. Mr. Greve moved,
Ms. Ahrens 2nd to accept the low bid of Mayfair to remove the old tile and install new tile for a total of $4968.70.
Yeas: Greve, Ahrens, McDonald, Heavey, Freeberg; Nays: None. 5 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
6. Mr. Greve moved, Mrs. McDonald 2nd, to accept the low bid of $11,790.00 from
Buck Bros, to provide a new John Deere mower with deck, cab/heater, and snow thrower, including trade in. Yeas: Greve, McDonald, Ahrens, Heavey, Freeberg; Nays: None. 5 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
7. Ms. Ahrens moved, Mr. Greve 2nd, to accept the bids of Atlas Boiler to provide fire brick replacement for $4,995.00 and replacement of the compression tank for $1,720.00. Yeas: Ahrens, Greve, McDonald, Heavey, Freeberg; Nays: None. 5 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
8. Ms. Ahrens moved, Mr. Heavey 2nd, to approve payment of agenda of monthly bills and imprest: Education-$67,166.16; OBM-$S,057.59; Transportation- $8,792.06; Dev/Don-$l,394.46. Yeas: Ahrens, Heavey, McDonald, Freeberg; Nays: None; Pass: Greve. 4 yeas, 0 nays, 1 pass, motion carried.
9. Mr. Freeberg moved, Mr. Greve 2nd, to approve the following transfer of activity funds; from #319 to #409 for $300.00, from #215 to #409 for $102.62. Yeas: Freeberg, Greve, Ahrens, Heavey, McDonald; Nay: None. 5 yeas, 0 nays, motion carried.
10. Mr. Heavey moved, Mr. Greve 2nd, to go into executive session at 9:00pm for the purpose of discussing personnel. Yeas: Heavey, Greve, Ahrens, McDonald, Freeberg; Nays: None. 5 yeas, 0 nays, motion cturied.
Mr. Heavey left the meeting at 10:05pm. The Vice President continued the meeting.
The Board returned to open session at 10:32pm.
11. Mr. Freeberg moved, Ms. Ahrens 2nd, to approve the following personnel: Employment: Emily Weil, speech; Sharon Torrence, JHS LA/Rdg.; Rosa Syphers, Sj>anish/TPI; Karen Wickline, JHS LD/EMH; Terri Baseggio, Kindergarten; Laura Kerman, Chapter I; Kathleen Asplund, JHS Science; Judy Kavanagh,
