Not pictured are Daren Crabill, Nick Drangle, John Kentgen, Ryan Mobley, Curt Kittel, Kurt Montanye, Danny Konwent, Jon Kowalcysk, Tom Trost, Brian Lucca, Eric Keller, Ryan Wolf and Brian HauL Huntiey Spring Soccer Places 1st In Marengo Tourney The Spring Soccer season was very successful for the under-12 Park District teams. The Huntley A-Team, coached by Kevin and Rose Brown, had a 6-0 record. The team owes their success to the excellent defense, allowing only 2 goals scored against them all season. The Huntley B-Team, coached by Mike Shambo, had a 4-1-1 record. Team work was the key to their success. Both teams were combined to participate in the Annual Marengo Tournament. Winning the first two games, 3-0 against Woodstock A and 2-1 against Woodstock B, the team advanced to the semi-finals. Facing Woodstock B again, they defeated them by a score of 7-3. Advancing Huntley to the Championship against Marengo. Once again, Huntley triumphed, edging out Marengo by a score of 2-1. An excellent display of determination and team work lead them to the victory and First Place. Both teams are looking forward to the fall season so that they may continue their success. Congratulations Boysl South Elgin Family Gets Aerial View Of Huntley At the American Legion Hall on July 4th, Emerson Fell, a longtime member of the Huntley American Legion, and one of the founders of the Huntley VFW, drew the name of Mrs. Naomia Quiroz of South Elgin, as the winner in the VFW "Come Fly With Me Raffle." Mrs. Quiroz and four of her family or friends will be feted to a flight from "The Landings" in Huntley to Lake Geneva, WI and back. Her flight will be piloted by Phillip VanReeth. Captain VanReeth served as a fighter pilot in Korea, recently retiring as a Captain with American Air Lines, and is a lifetime member of the Huntley VFW. When contacted Mrs. Quiroz stated that she never expect¬ ed to win, but thought that raising money for the Post's flags was worthy of a contri¬ bution. The Huntley VFW Post #10780 wishes to thank the Huntley American Legion, the Huntley Park District and especially the owners and staff of Sam's Sports Bar & Grill, The Wander Inn and The Parkside Inn whose efforts guaranteed the success of the raffle which has provided the funds with which we can purchase our standards. Consolation prize winners: Tom DeBartolo-Huntley, Chuck Slack-Carpentersville and Russ Helmers-Dundee. HS Crocker Takes Most Creative In CL Cardboard Cup Regattas- Above: Huntley business, HS Crocker took first in Most Creative Boat with its Rub-A-Dub Tub at Crystal Lake's Cardboard Cup Regatta on June 27th. The crew, Camille Bogerts, Jim Coylc, Adan Cruz and Ron Pliner, are ready to make a big splash at the 8th annual race. Below: HS Crocker's second entry, Nordic Eagle U, finished Nth overall in the race, navigated by Bert Suarz, Dan Doherty. Ron Giordano and Geoff Zivic. Huntley Jaycees Announce Wickman Raffle Winners — Huntley Jaycees announce the winners of the Raffle for People to People Student Ambassador, Kristen Wickman. The Raffle tickets were drawn by Mayor James Dhamer at the Huntley Town Picnic on Sunday, June 28th. Winner of the 1st prize 20" Color Magnavox T.V. was Sabro Burkoth from Pell Lake, WI. Other winners were: Liz SchnuUe - Woodstock, 3. Rev. Rust - Woodstock, 4. Notowitz - Huntley, 5. Arnold Klitz - Crystal Lake, 6. Koos - Blmwood Park, 7. Barb Michelsen - Huntley, 8. C.
