The luncheon which is open to all Huntley senior citizens, is hosted annually by the Huntley Lioness and the American Legion Auxiliary. Over 100 Huntley area senior citizens enjoyed music by the HHS Singers, Christmas carols, a delicious lunch and bingo. These handsome gentlemen and lovely lady are about to enjoy their annual Christmas Senior Citizens luncheon at the American Legion. They are from left: Grace Goehl, Jack Goehl, Edward Piske, James Martines, Oliver Hansen and Robert Eckman. School Robbery Results In Tighter Security On the last day of school before Thanksgiving, a lady from the Fox Valley area parked on Lincoln Street and entered the grade school via the large double doors. She then proceeded to walk down the halls and went into several classrooms that were unoccupied while the teacher and students were at lunch. Three of the teachers had money stolen from their purses. She was reported to the office via the intercom, after which the principal followed her down the hall, out the Lincoln Street doors, and into her car. As she sped away, her license number was taken and reported to police. The security in the Huntley Grade School and High School has being tightened due to this recent incident. Effective Immediately: 1. All doors in the school will be kept locked at all times, except the front doors by the office. 2. Any adult entering the school must go in the front, doors by the office and must get a "Visitors Pass" from the office. 3. The staff has been directed to challenge any adult that is in the building without a "Visitors Pass." Church Bells To Observe Bill Of Rights Day Bells of the Congregational, Lutheran and Roman Catholic Churches in Huntley will be heard tolling at noon on Stmday, December 15, in honor of "Bill of lUghts Day." That day marka the 200th Anniversiury of the ratification of the Bill of Rights. The newest concept in the Bill of Rights was the idea of religious freedom, foreclosing the new nation against the establishment of a state church or rules denying freedom of worship. To honor the Bill of Rights, and its provisions guaranteeing freedom of religion, our local churches are "ringing out" to "Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto the inhabitants thereof" (Leviticus 25:10). The churches urge you to take time on December 15th to read the Bill of Rights and the church bells will serve as a reminder to read the Bill that day and to celebrate the religious freedom that we have cherished for 200 years in our country.
