Citizens Speak Out About Balefill To LITH Board	
Approximately 100 people from LITH, Lakewood and Huntley came out the public comments session on the proposed balefill last weekend in LITH. LEAC H President Richard Hansen (right) was one of many people who spoke against the siting of a balefill two miles north of Huntley on Rt. 47.
LITH Sanitary District To Add 2,400 Acres To Facilities Planning Area
Lake-In-The-Hills Sanitary District wants to incorporate approximately 2,400 acres of non-FPA (Facilities Planning Area) into its own Facilities Planning Area and to expand its wastewater treatment facility from its currently approved capacity of 3.1 million gallons daily to a treatment capacity of 5.5 million gallons daily. In order to do this, the district must go through an amendment hearing process.
The Areawide Water Quality Steering Committee and the Planning and Policy Development Comittee of Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission (NIPC) will hold that public hearing process on Thursday, November 12, 9am-1pm in the Commission Chambers, 400 W. Madison St., Rm 200, Chicago.
An addition to the Facilities Planning Area of Lake-In-The- Hills Sanitary District means that this land has been designated as land that is planned to be annexed into Lake-In-The-Hills Sanitary District service area. Also, the LITH Sanitary District is a separate entity from the Village of LITH, just as a school district or a fire district is separate from its village government.
The approximately 2,400 acres being considered, has a current population of 63 people in 18 households. It is proposed in NIPC's public hearing notice that this area's population will
increase to 9,700 people in 3,300 households. This will result from residential development and some commercial/employment generating development. Some of the residential development projects include Concord Development's Meadowbrook, Pulte Homes' Heron Bay, Town and Country Homes' Hampton West and Sundance Homes' Sundance West.
This amendment will affect the Illinois Water Quality Management Plan, Areawide Water Quality Management Plan for Northeastern Illinois and the agricultural preservation area designations of the Strategic Plan for Land Resource Management.
NIPC's support of this requested amendment would require an amendment of the "agricultural preservation
area" designation of the Strategic Plan for Land Resource Management and a revision of the Commission's adopted Year 2010 population and household forecasts.
Only testimony presented at the hearings or submitted in writing on or before 5pm Friday, November 13, will be made part of the public hearing record. No additional testimony, either verbal or
written will be accepted after the close of the hearing or at the subsequent Committee and Commission meetings. Written comments should be addressed to the attention of Ms. Deborah L.
