Local Skater Makes Debut At Rockford R & R Competition Huntley Students Send Christmas Cards To Marines On Saturday November, 14, Lora Linnenkohl of Huntley made her soloist debut at the Rockford R & R Invitational ice skating competition. Competing out of the Polar Dome in Dundee, Lora beat five other skaters in her division to take the first place trophy. Lora has been skating for eight years. She has also been competing on the polarettes precision team for the last four years. Lora's next solo competition will be at the Robert Crown Ice Center in Evanston, Illinois. Congratulations. Principal Kelly Baird has mobilized the students of Huntley Elementary School to respond as usual to sending holiday greetings to the U.S. Armed Forces that are helping the starving people in Somolia. This time, like their efforts during Operation Desert Storm, the students have made the Christmas cards for Project Restore Hope. Dean Food Transportation Co. is transporting the cards to the Headquarters of Marine Corp. in Washington, D.C. which will forward the cards to Marines in Somalia. Citizens can send cards to: A Marine, Operation Restore Hope, Headquarters-U.S. Marine Corp., Public Affairs Branch, Washington, D.C. 20380. Huntley Park Presents Holiday Country Charm The Huntley Park District will be presenting "Holiday Country Charm" on Saturday, Dec. 12. This year's event includes the arrival of Santa Claus at Deicke Park, Rt. 47, Huntley, on a fire engine at 1:00pm. Other activities will include a storytime by the Huntley Library, caroling by area Girl Scouts, performance by the Crusader Handbell Choir of the Huntley Congregational Church and coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cider served by the Salvation Army of McHenry County. At 2:00pm, two silver medal award winner students from Elgin Community College will be doing ice sculpting in the park. Moms, dads, and children can assist in the sculpting of a snowman and reindeer. Co-sponsors for the event are The Huntley Chamber of Commerce, Tricia Clancy of Windsor Realty and The Huntiey Lioness. Huntley Village Board Hires Part-Time Administrator, Strikes Boundary Agreement With Neighboring Villages The regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1992 in the Board Room of the Village Hall and called to order by the President at 8pm. Present were Trustees George Russ, Charlie Becker, Roger Borowicz, Joe Gow, Terry Hoeft, John Sheehan, President James Dhamer, Village Admin¬ istrator Rob Nelis, Village Engineer Don Schwegel and Attorney Michael F. Kukla. Also, present was Jack Petttigrew, Sam Polsky, and Bohdan Hirniak. The first order of business was the presentation of the Oct. 8, 1992 regular meeting minutes. Trustee Gow made a motion to approve these minutes as presented, seconded by Trustee Becker, upon roll call vote, all were in favor. Next, the Special Board meeting minutes of Oct. 22, 1992 were presented. Trustee Sheehan made a motion to approve these minutes as presented, seconded by Trustee Becker, upon roll call vote, all were in favor. The Committee of the Whole meeting minutes of Oct. 22, 1992 were presented. Trustee Borowicz made a motion to add the hiring of the Village Administrator into the minutes, seconded by Trustee Becker. Trustee Russ moved to adopt the amended minutes of the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Trustee Becker, all were in favor, John Sheehan pass. President Dhamer called for action on the bill list as set out. Trustee Gow questioned the bill for Ronald P. Paul. Attorney Kukla explained that Dr. Paul was the neurologist the Board hired to examine Michael Henning. Trustee Gow made a motion to accept bill as presented, seconded by Trustee Sheehan, roll noted all ayes. The Treasurer's Report was tabled until a later date. President Dhamer appointed Rob Nelis as the Village Administrator. He will work 4 days per week and half days on meetiiig days at an hourly rate of $18.00 per hour. Trustee Hoeft made a motion to accept, seconded by Trustee Becker. Upon roll call, the following vote was taken: George Russ, aye; Charlie Becker, aye; Roger Borowicz, nay; Joe Gow, aye; Terry Hoeft, aye; John Sheehan, aye. Rob Nelis presented the Administrator's Report. Rob Nelis made a suggestion to the Board to consider purchasing a passenger ear in the amount of $10,000.00 for the Building Inspector, or to obtain bids for a mini pickup or ranger. President Dhamer suggested to the Board to consider a 6 cylinder engine. President Dhamer directed Rob Nelis to obtain bids. Rob Nelis reported on Kathleen Hammer monthly budget report and requested a finance committee meeting to discuss expenditures. The Board decided to hold its finance committee meeting on Nov. 23, 1992 at 7:00pm and the Police meeting at 7:30pm. Attorney Kukla presented Jim Green from Jenner & Block, representing Thomas Sullivan who owns property North of Meier property. Mr. Green presented the Board with a concept plan of the development of the property. They will enter into a pre- annexation agreement or an annexation agreement with the Village. Mr. Green explained that they will negotiate a pre-annexation agreement, or if Sullivan and Meier agree, they will enter into an annexation agreement. Trustee Sheehan explained that he liked their concept. Trustee Gow made a formal motion to approve the concept plan issues with the densities to be determined, seconded by Trustee Becker, roll call noted all ayes. Attorney Kukla stated that he had received a call from Herb Jackish regarding the bond. Attorney Kukla recommended to the Board that Mr. Jackish open a cash deposit at the State Bank of Huntley in an amount the Village requires for the sprinkler system. Attorney Kukla explained how this could be beneficial to the Board because the Board would be able to draw on the money without Mr. Jackish's approval. Don Schwegel told the Board that he had tested the sanitary sewer north of Bakley's 16th and Algonquin Road. President Dhamer suggested Don Schwegel to do a letter stating that the sewer has been tested. Trustee Hoeft requested that the billing for Herb Jackish be done separately from the regular Village bill. Attorney Kukla tabled this matter until the next meeting. Attorney Kukla then presented two Intergovern¬ mental Agreements between the Village of Huntley and the Village of Algonquin and the Village of Huntley, Village of Algonquin, Village of Lake-In-The-Hiles and the Lake- In-fhe-Hills Sanitary District. The Board gave attorney Kukla the direction to inform NIPC that the Village will withdraw their objection under the condition continued on page 4
