Carie Bein Takes Miss Huntley Crown!

Carie D. Bein won the Miss Huntley Pageant Sunday, June 23, held at the Huntley Town Picnic in Deicke Recreation Center. Bein was crowned by 1990 Miss Huntley Jessica Lombard.
Bein, 17, was one of four contestants participating in the pageant. The other three contestants were Jennifer Lawrence, 17, Leigh Ann Ahrens, 18, and Julia Buetow, 16. The girls competed in evening gown competition, poise and personality. Each girl was given a word and asked to tell what she feels that word means. Bein with a mischievous grin, described the word, "money." In addition, each contestant filled out an information sheet describing themselves, their likes, dislikes and future aspirations.
As Miss Huntley, Bein receives a $100 cash prize and a 3-year subscription to The Huntley Farmside. In addition, Bein will compete in the Miss McHenry County Pageant at the McHenry County Fair taking place July 31 - August 4 at the fairgrounds in Woodstock.
Each of the other contestants received a 1-year subscription to The Huntley Farmside.
Bein, the daughter of Dale and Barbara Bein, is a recent graduate of Huntley High School. She was active in cheerleading, FFA, colorguard and chorus and the 1990 HHS Homecoming Queen. She is working this summer at Joseph Spiess. This fall she plans to attend Illinois State University majoring in secondary math education.
Judging the Miss Huntley Pageant were Vernon Patton of Elgin, Carolyn O'Gorman of Crystal Lake, and Glenda
1990 Miss Huntley Jessica Lombard and the newly-crowned 1991 Miss Huntley Carie D. Bein.
Stewart of Crystal Lake. Patton is a member of the State Board of Directors for the Miss Illinois Scholarship Pageant. O'Gorman, a former Miss Crystal Lake and Miss
McHenry County, is a recent graduate of Loyola University. Stewart is the owner of Glenda Stewart Modeling it Social Development School in Crystal Lake.
Huntley Takes 1st In Water Fights Again!

Huntley took first for the second year in a row at the Huntley Fire Protection Distrfct Water Fights last Saturday afternoon at Station 2. Huntley had entered three teams in the fights. Team I took 1st and Team II took 4th. Woodstock II won 2nd place, Woodstock I won 3rd place.
HFPD had a very good turn out dispite the inclement weather. There were a total of 12 teams competing. Woodstock City and Hampshire each had 2 teams present. Dundee, Wheatland, WI., Genoa-Kingston, Marengo and Boone County also competed in the water fights.
Bob Kunde was the lead nozzle man for the victorious Huntley team. Kunde who has
fought for the department for 20 years, will retire from the fights with this last 1st place victory. In the playoffs for the final heat, Kunde went head to head with his son, Mark, who was on Huntley Team II. Kunde won't be fighting anymore but he has been named Head Referee for the McHenry County area. The Huntley Fire Protection District would like to thank Grafton Twp., Huntley Public Works Dept., Alliance, Bob Zirk, Daum's Auto Body, Huntley School District, H.S. Crocker Inc. and Wander Inn for their donations to the water fights.
