Village Board Meets
The June 13, 1991 Regular Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Huntley was held in the Board Room of the Village Hall and called to order by President Dhamer at 8:05 P.M.
Present were President Dhamer, Trustees Becker, Sheehan, Borowicz, Gow, and Russ with Trustee Hoeft absent. Also attending were Village Attorney Kukla, Village Engineer Schwegel, Police Chief Rossi and Public Works Director Nimbar with Village Administrator Krauss absent.
The May 9, 1991 minutes were brought to the trustees for their approval and there being no additions nor corrections, they stood approved as presented by motion by Trustee Russ, seconded by Trustee Becker. Roll noted all ayes and the motion carried and the minutes approved.
The bill listing as submitted by the Village Administrator were examined and thereafter, Trustee
Sheehan made a motion to pay all bills listed with the' exception of the J H Patterson invoice in the amount of $1,000.00 and Stan's Office in the amount of $5,274.00, seconded by Trustee Russ. All trustees voted aye upon roll call and the motion carried. Trustee Borowicz questioned, after requesting that the J H Patterson invoice be heldfor payment, extensively as to the installation of a sidewalk at the frontage of the J.H. Patterson Company property on West Main Street. He questioned also the permit required for this construc¬ tion. President Dhamer advised it had been issued late as the requirement was overlooked when the initial permit was procurred. The installation was observed by Trustee Becker and Building Inspector Schaller and found to be in line. Trustee Gow questioned why a permit was not taken out at the time of installation and President Dhamer said it was an honest
mistake. A question arose regarding the rebar vs. mesh and the charge for the side¬ walk. Trustee Becker felt it was properly installed and thereafter a motion was made by Trustee Russ to pay the J H Patterson Company invoice in the amount of $1,000.00 as agreed seconded by Trustee Gow, and roll noted all ayes with the exception of Trustee Borowicz, and motion carried. Attorney Kukla advised that the Minolta invoice in the amount of $5,274.00 (Stan's Office Machines) held out on the bill listing was in excess of $5,000 and the Board needed to waive the bid requirement. Trustee Gow made a motion to this effect, seconded by Trustee Russ, and roll noted all ayes and the motion carried. Thereafter, a motion was made by Trustee Russ to approve payment of the Stan's OfHce Machines invoice in the amount of $5,274.00, seconded by Trustee Sheehan and roll noted all ayes and the motion carried.

The crew of "the Nordic Eagle," entered by H.S. Crocker Co., Inc., Huntley, won 3rd prize for the Most Enthusiastic Crew at the 7th Annual America's Cardboard Cup Regatta in Crystal Lake last Saturday afternoon.
The crew which consisted of Crocker General Manager Ron Giordana, Plant Manager Dan Doherty, Geoff Zivic, Bert Suarez and Camille Bogarts, dressed as Vikings in baseball caps with horns and carried swords.  They captured the crowd's and the judges' attention with their hooping, hollering and sneak attacks on another team camp of Indians.
As far as the boat race goes, their boat held up very well and with a 1 min. 48 sec. time ranking them 34th in the first heats, they made it to the semi-finals.
However, something went amiss in the semi-finals and the team got off course finishing with a time over 6 min.
The employees of H.S. Crocker took about 3 1/2 weeks to build their boat of cardboard with 4 layers of waterproof varnish on the inside and 10 layers of varnish and 1 layer of polyurethane on the outside. In addition to the crew. Dawn Skallet, Ed Mignon and Fred Kraus worked on the committee to build the boat and enter the race.
The Cardboard Cup Regatta is put on annually by the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and Crystal Lake Park District.  This year there were over 100 entries. The proceeds from the race go to 7 different local charities.
An invoice from Home State Bank of Crystal Lake in the amount of $68,555.22 (Sewer Treatment Plant loan payment) was submitted for approval, thereafter Trustee Gow made a motion to approve this payment, seconded by Trustee Russ, and upon roll call, all trustees voted aye arid the motion carried.
The Treasurer's report for May, 1991 was approved, after questioned by Trustee Gow, by motion by Trustee Gow, seconded by Trustee Borowicz, and roll noted all ayes and the motion carried.
President Dhamer made note that a receipt has been received from NIPC for village's continued support by the $144.00 annual contribution.
President Dhamer referred to a letter from Baxter and Woodman in which the firm informed the village of a 30-day extension request from Lenny Hoffman Excavating, Inc. on the 4th Street Sewer Improvements. Mr. Schwegel confirmed Harold Kively's
recommendation to approve the request. After discussion as to location and services, a motion was made by Trustee Sheehan to grant the 30-day extension to Lenny Hoffman Excavation for substantial completion and final comple¬ tion date of August 5th is # unchanged and to authorize Baxter and Woodman to prepare an appropriate change order changing conditions of the contract. Trustee Borowicz seconded and roll noted all ayes and the motion carried.
In the absence of the Village Administrator, President Dhamer brought the following to the Board's attention on his behalf. McHenry County 4-H Youth Foundation Tag Day request for October 5, 1991; a letter he sent to Huntley School District 158 to Dr. Bunt's attention requesting that the school reroute all bus traffic to avoid th# use of Sunset Lane which surface and base is not sufficient to use this road.
