LEAC II Plans Action, Raises Funds
New Police Department Entrance Now Open

In anticipation of a balefiU petition to be filed by Lake In The Hills next month, the Landfill Emergency Action Committee II (LEAC II) is focusing on setting up its plan of action and raising funds to carry it out.
After LITH annexed the Veugler property 2 miles north of Huntley on Rt. 47, local government of^cials and citizens organized LEAC II to fight any efforts to put a balefill on this property. This is the second time in ten years Huntley residents have fought against a landfill proposal for this location. In 1985 the Landfill Emergency Action Committee (LEAC ij first organized and successfully blocked the landfill from becoming a reality.

LEAC II, a non-profit organization, is gearing up for an expensive fight. According to sources the committee will probably need to raise $100,000.00. LEAC n has set up a bank account at the State Bank of Huntley to receive donations. Huntley Library Board Meets
The Huntley Area Public Library District Board met on January 8, 1992, at 7pm at the Huntley Park Office. Present: Borhart, Crabill, Kloempken, Kohley, Ruth, Thompson. Mr. Ruth, president, called the meeting to order.
Kohley moved, Borhart seconded to approve the December minutes with corrections. Yeas: Kohley, Borhart, Crabill, Kloempkin. Nays: none Abs: Drendel, Sheets. Motion seconded to accept the bills and the treasurer's report as Kloempken. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Committee reports: Building/Equipment: Crabill reported on the furnishings and equipment being considered. Borhart moved, Kohley seconded to increase
building furnishing/equipment budget to $9,000. Yeas: Borhart, Kohley, Crabill, Drendel, Kloempken. Nays: none. Motion carried.
New Business: Shelving for the library will be delivered on January 15. Drendel will see to any snow removal for this season. Thompson will place an advertisement in The Huntley Farmside for staff positions.
Old Business: Thompson recommended canceling the agreement on the Westbrook circulation desk.
Crabill moved, Kohley seconded to extend the meeting to January 25, 1992, at 10am at the Huntley Library site. Yeas: Crabill, Kohley, Borhart, Drendel, Kloempken. Nays: none. Motion carried.
On Saturday, January 25,
Progress on the renovations at the Huntley Police Department nears completion. The new entrance for the Police Department, on the Church Street side of the Village Hall, is ready for use. This will soon be the permanent entrance for the
Police Department. They encourage citizens with police business to begin using this new entrance, since renovation plans include eliminating the Village Hall entrance.
The police dispatch calling phone, which was inside the Village Hall entrance, has
been moved to inside the new Police Department entrance. The Village Hall doors will now be locked except during their regular office hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, and 8:00am to 12, noon, Saturdays.
Senior Citizens Club Grows By Four
John Kolby, Tom and Nancy Schneider, and Lyle Kappen joined the Huntley Senior Citizens Club on January 23, 1992.

Crabill moved, Kohley seconded to purchase a plaque for names of individuals who donate gifts of $500 or more to the Huntley Area Public Library. Yeas: Crabill, Kohley, Borhart, Kloempken. Nays: none. Motion carried. Kloempken moved, Kohley seconded to accept the bills as presented Yeas: Kloempken, Kohley, Borhart, Crabill. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Borhart moved, Kloempken seconded that part-time employees' pay period will be from the first of the month to the end of the month with
