Thirteen new members were welcomed into the Senior Citizen's Club on February 28th. Pictured above: Ed Piske, Bessie Piske, Adeline Albrecht, Louise Henning, Mildred Deidrick, Mary Little and Bea Brill. New members not pictured are Pauline Funnekotter, Lucile Kahl, Bertha Struck, Mary Cole, Ruth Kahl and Joe Paluch. The Club extends a hearty welcome to each of these new members. Take Part In Town Picnic Plans The 6th Annual Huntley Town Picnic 18 June 23, 1991. This year's picnic should be bigger and better than in the past. Miss Huntley contest, rides for the kids, ice cream eating contest, music and lots of food highlight this year's picnic. Anyone who would like to help in any way may attend our next planning meeting March 18 at 7:00pm at the Park Building or call 669-3180 anytime. Buy Fashion Show Tickets Now The Music Boosters 6th Annual Fashion Show is set for March 19th at 7:30 pm in the High School Band Room. The show, "Swing Into Spring - A Day In The Park," will feature a special guest appearance by 105.5 FM, WAIT'S Dick Mitz. Tickets are on sale now for only $3.00, available from any students from Jr. High it High School Band, Chorus and Marching Band Color Guard or by calling the High School at 669-5171. Tickets at the door t'he night of the Fashion Show will be $4.00. All proceeds are used for music camp scholarships for selected students. Worknight for the Fashion Show and the regularly scheduled Boosters Meeting is March 5, 7:30 pm. Anyone who signed up for the Decorations Committee, bring your imagination and work clothes. Senior Citizens Met The Feb. 28th meeting of the Huntley Senior Citizens was called to order by President Ahrens after the Pledge of Allegiance and a pot luck dinner. A silent prayer for Rose Michelsen who passed away Feb. 23rd as well as a prayer for our men and women in the armed services. Forty four members answered roll call. Mary Ann Lowall, a Senior Service administrator, was introduced and gave an inspiring report on senior citizen abuse, and neglect and what their office does about it. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved after a correction of Marge Broughton instead of Nancy Grimes on a motion by Viola Knaak, 2nd by Emerson Fell. The treasurer's report of $329.84 was approved on a motion by Lucille Thurow, 2nd Geography Bee Winners by Carolyn Schultz. Hosts for next meeting will be Leona and Soren Bungard and Doris and Ralph Drafall. A special thanks for the St. Patrick decorations and candy treat was given to Marge Broughton. Thirteen new members which include Louise Henning, Bea Brill, Mary Little, Adeline Albrecht, Mildred Diedrich, Bess and Ed Piske, Lucile Kahl, Bertha Struck, Mary Cole, Ruth Kahl, Pauline Funnekotter and Joe Paluch were welcomed into our group. Accompanied at the piano by May Chesak, Happy Birthday was sung to Doris Ball. The group also sang God Bless America at this time. A thank you cake was presented to Louise Kreutzer retiring activity chairman by Fred Ahrens and Alice Jordi. She in turn thanked the group. Alice Jordi announced that all reservations are full for the Delevan Dog Races. The Patriotic Stars and Stripes and Fireside Theater are now being received and 21 reservations have been made all ready by the members. May 9th and 10th at Coral Woods, Maple sugar taping can be observed and cars will be available on Sat. at 9:45 a.m., no charge and call Alice Jordi at 669-5643 if you are interested so we can have enough cars. A committee to rewrite or change the by-laws will be Al Jordi, Fred Ahrens, Doris Ball and Viola Knaak. Emerson Fell announced that the First Evangelical Free Church of Rockford has three annual events that our group might be interested in. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned and bingo was enjoyed. 1990-91 Champion Geography Bee Winner, Philip Meier and Runner-up Tim Kahl, both of Huntley Jr. High, stopped to pose for a quick snapshot after the recent Geography Bee was over.
