Huntley School Supports Rain Forests ¦¦>^"-^' Yolanda Treviranus, Amy Tures, Eric Keller and Megan Parker are playing a game while answering some wildlife questions. By A. Hardister and K. Williams Did you know that in one second an acre of rainforest is destroyed, killing many tropical animals such as sloths, tapars, parrots, macaws, monkeys, lemurs, boa constricters, anacondas, poisonous tree frogs, insects, and thousands of others? While others are just talking about it, here at Huntley we're trying to do something about it. The fifth grade has set-up their annual wildlife fund raiser and this year's game was "Wildlife Around the World." Everyone donated 50 cents to play. They were asked questions about wildlife and a correct answer meant they could move forward one space. The person farthest ahead when the game was over won! Everyone was given an animal poster just for playing. Music Boosters Present' Fashion Show — By Hillary Lilly On Monday, March 22, at 7:30pm, the Huntley Music Boosters will present their annual Fashion Show "Bon Voyage" in the High School Cafeteria. Flowers to compliment the formal fashions will be provided by Huntley Floral. Tickets are on sale now, from any music student in grades 8-12, or by calling 708-669-5171 for $4.00 per person. Tickets at the door are $5.00. There will also be a silent auction of items donated by local businesses held the night of the show. All proceeds will be used for music camp scholarships. Book your passage now, so you won't be left standing on the dock, waiting for your ship to come in. Join us for fun and prizes. Huntley High Juniors Brian Turner and Aniand?i Yerke will model formal fashions at the annual Music Boosters Fashion Show on March 22. Girl Scouts Name Top Cookie Sellers — By Judy Melman Once again they were out in droves. Like bees gathering honey, the Huntley Girl Scouts went out on their biggest fundraiser, gathering orders for the "oh so good" Girl Scout cookies. And, once again, the people of Huntley were very supportive. The troops were working towards various goals: a day at Santa's Village, a family bowling party, even a trip to Niagara Falls. Between the five Girl Scout troops, 6,568 boxes of cookies were sold. The highest sellers from each troop were: Troop #220, Katy Chaves, 112 boxes; Troop #187, Stephanie George and Carissa Trent tied at 136 boxes each; Troop #281, Melissa Hundley, 264 boxes; Troop #134, Ashley Hardister, 201 boxes; and Troop #828, Kim Frederick, 201 boxes. Congratulations girls! Also, thank you to the people of Huntley for supporting the Girl Scouts.
