Huntley Village Board Considers Asphalt Plant, Streetlights, Signs
The October 14, 1993 regular meeting of the Village Board" of Trustees was held in the board-room of the Village Hall and called to order by President Dhamer at 7:05pm. Roll noted the following present: President Dhamer, Trustees Borowicz, Eckel, Shamhart, Sheehan, Todd. Also attending were Police Chief Rossi, Public Works Director Schwartz, Building Inspector Ehrke, Village Engineer Schwegel and Village Attorney Kukla. Absent: Trustee Becker (arrived at 7:32pm) and Administrator Nelis.
To begin. President Dhamer asked that the minutes from the Sept. 23, 1993 board meeting be reviewed and approved. Trustee Todd and Trustee Sheehan asked that the minutes be changed as follows:
• The first paragraph of the Building Report should read: Building Inspector Ehrke notified the board that there has been an outbreak of Legionnaires Disease in Chicago which if it gets into the water the Village should expect to see a representative from the EPA in the next 60 days.
• The last paragraph in the Wing Pointe section's wording
to be changed to accurately reflect information regarding a TIF IL
• In the Public Works section the fifth paragraph should state Illinois Hydraulic and not Allied Hydraulic.
Trustee Shamhart made a motion to approve the minutes as amended. It was seconded by Trustee Sheehan. A voice vote noted all ayes and the motion carried.
Bill List Approval:
Trustee Borowicz asked for a separate vote regarding the payment of $420 to Accurate Sawing & Coring, Inc. He also questioned payments to Bakley ($2,482.66), Hoyle Road Equipment Co. ($3,951.54), Lyle Signs, Inc. ($57.13) and Hinner Signs & Equipment ($553.92). Trustee Todd questioned the following: CCS/ West ($500.88 and $350.00) and Cellular One. Trustee Eckel questioned the following: DCN Production ($102.00) and asked to hold until it's researched and King Chevrolet, Inc. ($725.00) and asked to also hold. Trustee Eckel made a motion to approve the bill list with the exception of DCN Production for $102.00, King Chevrolet, Inc. for $725.00,

Huntley Park District Presents Costume Winners
Winners of the Huntley Park District's Jr. High Halloween party's costume contest held on Saturday, Oct. 30, were (not pictured in order) Maltese, best all-around boy; Jordan, most elaborate costume for a boy; Marion, best all-around girl; Ashley, most elaborate costume for a girl; Elizabeth, scariest girl; John, funniest boy; John, most original boy; and Marco, scariest boy.
Huntley Redskins Volleyball Season Ends At Sectionals

Well, Huntley Varsity Volleyball Coach, Larry Kahl, was right - last Thursday night's Sectional volleyball game against Marian Central really was "a heck of a game."
Both teams were fired-up for the fight. Both were filled with desire for a big win. Both had shown they had the skill. Both teams had fans filling the gym with deafening cheers. Unfortunately, only one team could win, and luck was on the side of Marian.
Huntley worked hard in the first game to slowly come back from the initial scoring surge of Marian, but the Redskins couldn't quite catch up. The game ended at 11-15.
From the start of the second game, the Ladyskins could do no wrong; and Marian could do no right. Huntley racked up 9 points before the Hurricanes could score their one and only point. It looked like the pressure had taken its toll on Marian. The Redskins quickly finished them off, 15-1.
Both teams came into the third game knowing it was the "do or die" match. Reversing the speed of the other games, the final game was a slow, up and down battle. Marian finally broke away a little, to an 11-5 score. Huntley refused to accept this surge from the 'Canes, and began to build up their score again.
Fans worked as hard as the girls to inspire their teams. Finally, they faced each other with a 14-12 score, and heart-attack tension filled the gym. The final, game- winning point by Marian Central left stunned silence in the Huntley stands, while the other side of the gym broke into hysterical cheers.
The end brought hugs and tears everywhere. It was hard to tell whether they were from joy or sorrow without a uniform to determine the team. It truly was a heck of a game. Too bad both of these outstanding competitors couldn't win.
