Huntley Testathon 3 Raises Record Amount!

Thanks go to all the students who participated in Testathon 31 Your efforts and the generosity of caring people helped make TESTATHON 3 a huge success!
Our goal this year w^ a conservative $4,000, but through good times and bad we were able to bring in a grand total of $5,177.69. We will be able to clear way over our estimated proHt goal. All these efforts show people do care for their schools and the education of their young. We at the Huntley PTO, are proud to be a part of a good place to be. We can see that people will do what they can for their school.
It didn't just happen! It took a lot of concentrated effort by a few dedicated people to make this all run smoothly. In December, when the economy was looking bad, PTO was very unsure of their pursuits toward this worthwhile program, but through positive reinforcing efforts of people who cared it all came together.
The 1991 Song of the Year, "Everything We Do, We Do For Your School!", got Chairperson Dottie Ross going. It soon became the only thing the Testathon Committee could think of for they only had a few short weeks to put this together.
Thanks to the efforts by the PTO officers and the Testathon Committee Volunteers we can be proud of our students, our school and a community that cares!
The cooperation of these special people made it all a success: Dottie Ross for organizing, theme, costumes, kickoff, props, design, layout, posters, assembly and general enthusiasm; Jackie Kowalczyk for logo design, kick off, work on posters and the showcase; Laurie Norris for help on the showcase, painting of Robin Hood, props and the Maid Marion gown; Linda Mulcahy for collecting pledges daily and tallying; Jan Ruemelin for typing, poster help, certificates and tallying; Loretta Lane, Treasurer, for tabulating all
the winners, recounting
monies and being supportive;

Local Doctor Goes To Russia

Dr. Clare Legursky of Huntley Medical Center will be the first medical doctor to work in Russia with an informal exchange program through Woodstock Memorial Hospital.
Legursky leaves tomorrow for a "kind of no-frills working vacation" in Moscow. For ten days she will work 1/2 days as a physician exchanging medical
information, treating and helping where she can and administering antibiotic medication that is desperately needed there.
The program evolved last fall out of another exchange program with Russia, Project Mutual Exchange. This non profit organization which focuses on dentistry, was started about two years ago

Where Am I In The District?

This past year, your State and County Officials have made population re-districting changes. When you Vote on March 17, in the general Primary Election, you should know what areas affect Huntley and which candidates are running for the various offices.
We are in the 64th State Representative District, the 16th U.S. Congressional District and the 32nd State Senatorial District. We are in McHenry County Board area #6.
The Village of Huntley itself has (4) Voter Precincts within its boundaries. Residents living west of Rt.
47 are in'Precinct #4 and vote at the Grafton Township Garage. Residents living east of Rt. 47 and south of Main St. are in Precinct #& and vote at Greentrees on East Main St. Residents living east of Rt. 47 and North of Main St. are in Precinct #1 and vote at the Huntley American Legion Hall.
Grafton Township has an additional (7) Voter Precincts, stretching to Crystal Lake and Lakewood.

Pinewood Derby Held By Scouts

On January 25 & 26, Pack 167 held their Pinewood Derby.
On Friday, Jan. 25, the Sth grade Webelos held their races. The reason they held it on Friday was because the next day they were going on a Klondike Derby with the Boy Scouts. The winners in 5th grade in Ist, 2nd, 3rd order were: Matt Zippe, Jeremy Lombard, Luke Erickson.
For Best Paint Job: Erik Hahn, Jeremy Lombard, Robby Mcintosh.
For Best Design: Jeremy Lombard, Quinn Frihart, Luke Erickson.
On Saturday, Jan. 26, the other boys raced. The winners in 1st, 2nd, 3rd order were: Tigers: Michael Ross, Alex Kowalski, Travis Smith; Wolves: Steven Taylor, Leo Cardenas, Nick DeBartolo; Bears: Eric Keller, David Neal, Dusty Isenhart; 4th
