*** SAMPLE COPY *** tlTfje iluntkp fwtm^iht HUNTLEY, ILLINOIS THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 1993 - VOLUME 32, NUMBER 40 USPS 580-360 Cub Scout Pack #167 held its Pinewood Derby last Saturday, January 23rd, at the First Congreg¬ ational Church in Huntley. Over 75 Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos, parents and leaders came out to meet, eat and compete at this traditional scouting event. Each boy creates, carves and decorates his own racer from a standard block of wood. Scouts Host Annual Pinewood Derby ^ The annual Cub Scout Pack #167 Pinewood Derby was held on Saturday, Jan. 23, 1993, at the First Congregational Church. Races were held in the five categories of Tigers, Wolves, Bears, 4th Grade Webelos and 5th Grade Webelos. These categories were also judged for Best Paint Job and Best Design. There were many close, exciting races. The winners in each category are: TIGERS - Races: 1st, Jesse Kaczmarski; 2nd, Jeffery Hintze; 3rd, Brian Manning. Best Paint Job: 1st, Brian Manning; 2nd, Matthew Obenauf; 3rd, Jesse Kaczmarski. Best Design: 1st, James Jewell; 2nd, Jeffery Hintze; 3rd, Jesse Kaczmarski. WOLVES - Races: 1st, Michael Ross; 2nd, Travers Smith; 3rd, Brian York. Best Paint Job: 1st, Christopher Ruemelin; 2nd, Thomas Neal; 3rd, Michael Ross. Best Design: 1st Travers Smith; 2nd, Adam Reeves; 3rd, Christopher Ruemelin. BEARS - Races: 1st, David Kabbe; 2nd, .Anthonv Benton; 3rd, Brandon LeBron. Best Paint Job: 1st, Anthony Benton; 2nd, David Kabbe; 3rd, Joshua Pierce. Best Design: 1st, David Kabbe; 2nd, Joshua Pierce; 3rd, Anthony Benton. 4th GRADE WEBELOS - Races: 1st, David York; 2nd, Matthew McKinnon; 3rd, Keith Seyller. Best Paint Job: 1st, Keith Seyller; 2nd Ricky Kaczmarski; 3rd, David York. Best Design: 1st, Keith Seyller; 2nd, Ricky Kaczmarski; 3rd, Matthew McKinnon. 5th GRADE WEBELOS - Races: 1st, Noah Moffitt; 2nd, Hank Frasher; 3rd, Robert Christiansen. Best Paint Job: 1st, Noah Moffitt; 2nd Chris Lane; 3rd, Jon Kowalczyk. Best Design: 1st, Jon Kowalczyk; 2nd, Noah Moffitt; 3rd, Andy Wingate. The first and second place race winners in the Wolf, Bear, 4th Grade Webelos and 5th Grade Webelos categories advance to the Blackhawk Area Council Pinewood Derby, held on April 17-18 in Rockford. The newest members of the Huntley Pioneer 4-H Club are: (l-r front row) Jonathan Farkas, Amanda Bergman, Cortnee Nelson, Megan Markas, Stephanie Henning, Katie Bergman and Ryan Carr; (back row) Victoria Farkas, Dan Markas and Hanns VonBosse. Huntley Pioneers Elect New Officers By Heather Schneiderman The Huntley Pioneers 4-H Club elected their new officers at the November meeting. They are: Steve Morzos, President; Scott Stier, Vice President; Scott Dvorak, Treasurer; Missy Conforti, Secretary; Heather Schneiderman, Reporter; and Suzie Stier, Historian. Congratulations to all the new officers. Hope you have a great year! /The Pioneer meetings are the second Monday of every month at 7:00pm in the Huntley High School Cafeteria. Grafton Township Board Begins New Year Business The regular monthly meeting of the Grafton Town Board of Trustees was held at the Grafton Township Building Jan. 14, 1993 at 7:30pm. The following officers were present: Ruth, Kobza, Trom, Ziller, Borhart, Road Commissioner Hight and Assessor Ottley. The minutes of the previous meeting were presented and read. A motion was made by Ziller and seconded by Trom to approve said minutes. Roll call: all ayes, nays none. The Treasurer's report was presented and read. A motion was made by Borhart and seconded by Trom to approve said report. Roll call: all ayes, nays none. A motion was made by Ziller and seconded by Trom to approve all bills as presented. Roll call: all ayes, nays none. Supervisor Ruth stated that she needed $15,000.00 transferred from Town Fund Savings to Town Fund, and the Road Commissioner stated that he needed $60,000.00 from R&B Saving to R&B Fund. A motion was made by Trom and seconded by Ziller to grant said requests. Roll call: all ayes, nays none.
