Del was president from 1975 to 1976. Treasurer Ed Hartmann is congratulated by President Gary Schultze as he was named "Lion of the Year" in the Huntley Lions Club. Darryl Gurnett, member of the Huntley Lions Club, is presenting money that was donated to the American Legion Auxiliary for serving delicious meals this past year. Next to Darryl are; Marie Fettes, Arlene Mattingly, Marilyn Eckman, Millie Ruth, and Phillis and Herb Glissendorf Huntley Senior Citizens' Club Plans Events By Al Jordi The May meeting of the Huntley Senior Citizens' Club was called to order by President Vern Heine with 50 members present. After a delicious potluck luncheon. Dr. Jim Walsh, Huntley's newest chiropractor, was introduced and he told us that he has opened a new clinic at 10696 N. Route 47. Captain Al Wiesneth from the Huntley Fire Protection District spoke to us on fire protection. He described in detail the use of 911, and of the importance of having our house numbers properly displayed so that our fire or rescue service can locate your residence easily. Gladys Boncosky, sister of May Chesak from Sun City, Arizona, was introduced. Al and Violet Fabrip were welcomed as new members. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as read on a motion by Viola Knaak, 2nd by Lucille Thurow. The treasurer's report, presented by Dee Marcinek, shows a balance of $851.22 and was approved on a motion by Ed Piske, 2nd by Louise Henning. Activity Chairman Alice Jordi announced that eight new members were signed up at the Chamber of Commerce Expo and thanked all those who worked the two days. She also told of the good time everyone had at the dog races. July 15 is the three-day trip to Kentucky Lake. Sept. 15 is the six-day trip to Branson, Missouri, for which .only 7 seats remain. Oct. 29 is the Fireside Theatre trip and Dec. 4 is the Coronodo Theatre Christmas show. July 22nd the club picnic will be held at Deicke Park. We have been asked to participate in the town picnic on June 27, and a bake sale is being planned. Happy Birthday was sung to May Chesak, Dee Marcinek, Sadie Ogeslby, Louise Kreutzer, Marion Jensen, Alice Rendl and Veronic Emerick. Hosts for the June 24 meeting, to be held at the American Legion on June 24, will be Tom & Nancy Schneider, Dee Marcinek and Al Jordi. There being no further business the meeting adjourned and games were enjoyed.
