Huntley Redskins Start Off Season With 4-1 Record
By Huntley Athletic Boosters
It was a busy first week for the Huntley varsity boys basketball as they played five games in six days. In the Redskin season opener and Duane Sell's first game as the Huntley coach, Huntley defeated Malta 62-37. The Redskins used balanced scoring as five players scored in double figures. The leading scorers were Gary Keesling with 12 points and Brian Hoist, Derek Crabill, and Scott Strang all scored 10 points.
In the sophomore game, Malta sank three free throws with four seconds remaining in the third overtime to overcome a 45-43 Huntley lead and defeated the Redskins 46-45. The sophomores were lead in scoring by Steve Greeley with 14 points and Scott Dvorak
with 11 points.
On Tuesday, the Redskins lost to Williams Bay 78-65. The game was much closer than the final score indicated as a 45-43 Huntley third quarter lead was erased by a very quick Williams Bay team who out- scored Huntley 32-20 in the final quarter. The Redskins were led in scoring again by Keesling with 20 points, and Rick Fawroski with 14 and Adam Hoist with 11.
On Tuesday the sophomores defeated Williams Bay 63-41 to even their record 1-1. Leading scorers of that game were Dvorak with 15 points, Rob Williams with 9, Steve Greeley with 8, Doug Iddings with 8, Justin Veach with 8 and Chris Olson with 6.
