J DAYTON. Tenn., July 27— r^'Wllliam Jennings Bryan, three times >;/||residential nomlndb ot the democrat¬ ic party and known the world over lor hia eloquence, died here Sunday afternoon.

Dr. W. F. Thomason and Dr. A. C. Broyles, who examined the body, eipreesed the opinion Hr. Bryan had lieen dead 30 to 46 minutes before they arrived.
Mr. Bryan's death came on tbs eve of another crusade he had plan¬ ned to e^rry before the American people a battle against modernism. Shortly betore Bryan entered his room to rest, he told his wife he bad never felt better in bis life and waa ready to go before the country to wage hla (ight in behaK o( (unda- inentalism.
Mrs. Bryan was preparing to leave Dayton the nezt day or so (or Idaho, where she expected to send the sum¬ mer with her son.
Mr. Bryan was to leave Dayton Tue.iday (or Knoxville, where he was to deliver two seeches, then go to Nashville (or a similar engagement be(ore going to Florida. He expect¬ ed to Join Mra. Bryan again in the fall.
The town was shocked by tho tragedy, and (Ive minutes a(ter Mr. Bryan's death became known the streets were thronged with people. Mrs. Bryan is said to be entirely com¬ posed and Is bearing up wonderfully nnder tbe blow.
