The H. S. T. H. S. basket ball team won the eleventh straight start at tbe capital of Clay county on Friday of last week by a score of 27 to 21, after LouisvUle fans had staged a wild, but somewhtat premature celebration of Louisville's "victory" between the third and fourth quarters when the "cardinals" were ahead 21 to 13. ,
As stated In last week's paper, the •Flora team entered the game severely handicapped through Illness of the players. No mention was made, how¬ ever of tbe fact that Taylor, a reg¬ ular player on the team two years ago. would be eligible for Friday night's game. Had It not he for this same Taylor's playing In the game Flora might have lost and their re¬ cord of wins would h(ive stopped at ten.
At the start of the game Flora hooped In three long baskets In tbe tlrst few minutes of'play hut Louis¬ ville managed to get In the scoring too and made the score 8 to 8 at the end of the first period things didn't Improve much In the second frame and the score at tbe half was 12 to 11 with Lonlsvllle leading.
It was In the third quarter tbat Lonlsvllle broke loose, holding Flora to two points and collecting ten for themselves. Following this effort came the celebration, hats were kick¬ ed aloft, hutzas and whoops fllled the air—Flora was stopped at last, Hooray!
And Then It Happened
During the intermission someone must have greased the skids for when the playing started, Venable, who hacL been taken out for a few mlnutesT went back In the game and made a pretty, long shot through the hoop. . Ahouttbls time Darwin Taylor, (Oet tbat name please) entered the game nnd made monkeys out of tbe whole Loutsville aggregation from then un¬ til the end of the game. In four min¬ utes he made six baskets and the game was over, score 27 to 21. In favor of Flora.
Knight was put out of tbe game in the last quarter with four personal fouls and Pittman took Blotter's place. The latter failed to make a point during the time he was play¬ ing. Freshmen Wallop Louisville Fresh
The basket team of the Louisville high school freshman cjj^ass Invaded Flora on Tuesdjiy evening and were given a prize-winning walloping by the freshman team of the H. S. T. H. S. The final score was: Fiora 46. Louisville 6. The local lads had the visitors completely outclassed, making baskets almost at will dur¬ ing tbe game. A return game will be played at a later date.
Grades Do It. Too
The Flora Grades heaped things up on Louisville one evening this week when they walloped the grades team from the county seat school by n score of 37 to 11.. a decisive win.
It Is not known whether Louisville plans to protest these two last men¬ tioned games.
