Aftei" an illneaa of a few days 8. W. Birch, age 82 years, died at the Shadwell home on eaat North Ave., August 10, 192S, where he re¬ sided with bis niece and nephew, Miaa Emma and Oeorge Shadwell.
He was one of the oldest citisens In Flora and had apent moat of his
'•ntire life In thla vicinity. He waa another ot the Civil War veterans who taps sounded after a brief lll¬ aeaa. His death recorda the paaaing Of pne who lett thta city during the jrar of 1861. He waa in the 98tb 111-
i inois Reg. and with the famous Wllder's brigade.
The fact tbat he was a eonatant realdent of this city made him one ot the hest known veterana here and bis acquaintance among those in and out of the ranks was very extensive. He was a member of the Methodist Eplacopal ehurch for a half century. The services marking the final cere¬ moniea over the remalna of the well known veteran were held from the Shadwell home Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. J. B. Johnson, paator of the First M. E. church. Burial in Elmwood cemetery.
A number of bis aged comrades attended the ceremoniea.
H. W. SHRINER DEAD
State'a Attorney H. W. Shriner Maaed away at his home In east Tlora Wedneaday morning at 1:30, after a lingering Uineaa.
Funeral aerrlees are being held thla (Thursday) atternoon at 8:00 o'clock from the Christian church, with interment In the city eemetery.
Mr. Shrlner suffered a paralytic atroke more than a year agto and haa not been In good health slnee that time. He aerved aeveral terms us atate's attorney and was known ovar this section ot Illinois.
